Has anyone bothered to make one? I'm just curious. There are paths I'd like to explore without building the spellbook of suck.

Do you mean a custom spellbook?
Single player, going through the campaigns. The ability to play, say, the mission where you get the Taurock. Then remove the taurock and associated spell from your spellbook and add a different set of spells and have it be a permanent change.

I know you can add spells with the console, but I don't see a remove command. Nor do I know if the changes last throughout the campaign or just for the one mission. Regardless, I wouldn't want to 'cheat' in the traditional sense, I don't want to just have all the spells when I play. I just want to play with the composition I like and take extremely suboptimal paths because there are some missions I never or almost never play due to the creature/spell combinations you get.
I wish I understood what you are asking but I don't.

:(

I don't know anything about activating the console to cheat, nor would I encourage cheating.

If you want a custom spellbook, you must play through the campaign from start to finish, making strategic decisions as to what spells you want the gods to grant you provided that quest is complete.

At the end of the campaign, you have the option to start a custom game. In that custom game, you can select any available wizard from the campaign. This wizard you select contains the all the spells you worked for from the campaign. This is called a 'custom spellbook'.

That has nothing to do with what I'm asking. That's a multiplayer feature.

Also, get off your high horse about using the console. Nobody is hurting anyone by modifying the game in single player. It's rude to condemn it. I've beaten this game legitimately a million times over, I'm interested in playing the missions that give you crap creatures and spells just for a taste of something different. But I don't want to have the weak spellbook as a result.

What I want is to play a single player campaign. The story. Choosing gods, playing the missions, etc. But instead of getting the spells each level gives you, having the ability to change them to spells that don't suck. So, I go into Charnel mission 2 because I rarely play it (his shield sucks, his creature sucks) and change the spell and creature I get to another L2 creature and shield spell. Like Persephones etherealness and the healing scarab. That way I can play the missions I rarely see but still have a good creature and spell composition.

It's not that complicated a concept. The only thing I can assume is English isn't your first language?

Actually, that's not true.

You can start a custom game at any time without connecting to a multiplayer game... you just won't have a custom spellbook. When you start a custom game, you can play against computer-controlled wizards. The A.I. is the only opponent I know that can tolerate a 'pause & play' style of gaming.
Multiplayer with bots is still multiplayer.

I'm not talking about skirmishes. I'm not talking about multiplayer. I'm not talking about a bot match. I'm talking about the campaign. And if anyone has either:
Made a character editor program so you can modify your SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN wizard.
OR
Figured out how to modify the wizard and spellbook files to modify your SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN wizard.

Game was unfortunately unpopular and I don't know of any mods. You can try scapex editor (if it'll work for you...) and try to change things yourself.
