you could email support and say that the game doesnt work on your system.
list the specs for them and include a dxdiag aswell.
the netbook meets the minimum requirements for the game, but something stops it working.
i dont hold out much hope for them fixing it though. its a fundamental problem with the game not just the gog.com version.
its quite annoying really, because the game doesnt even give you an idea of whats wrong. it just exits.

a user there said that it works from steam on their eee pc 1000
has anyone else tried it on a 1000?
also ive seen suggestions on the net to run the game using the executable in the game directory rather than using the desktop/start menu shortcut. might be worth a try.

i tried the second.
if it will work then maybe it something the GoG devs should look at?
as soon as i get my S10 online i'll file a support request with my dxdiag results.
Woohoo!
I got Sacred working at last.
Heres how..
-Download the 1.3.7 version of Astray
http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=18260&p=1
-Follow the instructions for using it and make sure you switch off the services that it tells you to once youre happy with how it works. (certainly turn off the igfxtray program in task manager to start with.)
-You will need to alter the Astray.ini file to add the 1024x600 resolution because it does not come with that resolution as standard.
i also advise turning off downscaling in the ini file, or in the astray programs options menu.
- Go into the properties of Sacred.exe and set the compatibility to windows 98/me. disable visual themes.
- run astray if you havent already done so, quick switch to 1024x768 resolution.
- run sacred. the game will run, the screen will require scrolling to see everything.
bad things to note -
- with downscaling on you will be able to see all the screen but your performance will nose dive into the center of the earth and the game will be unplayable.
-the audio is terrible. theres a real problem with the sound on my netbook which uses realtek audio. the sound is choppy and repeats constantly as if its lagging behind everything else.
excellent, i will try it.
presumably i can do the same thing with my 1024x576 S10e screen?
what does igfx tray do?
by visual themes do you mean windows themes? like the default XP blue theme or the black Zune theme?
Many thanks

yeah instead of putting the native resolution to 1024x600, you would put 1024x576 instead.
the 1024x768 resolution you have to keep and use for the game to work.
igfx tray is the intel graphics tray icon. you may or may not have a tray icon which controls your graphics options. if you dont have that service running (itll display in task manager) then dont worry or skip that part.
by visual themes i mean.. right click on the desktop shortcut, go to compatibility and put a tick next to disable visual themes. if you dont do this and set compatiblity to windows 98, on the same screen, you might get directx render errors.
My friend has this netbook and it works but only with an external monitor. We tried to get it to run for a half hour while getting the same error. Eventually we hooked up an external monitor and it runs perfectly. It all has to do with the game having a fixed resolution of 1024x768. Your monitor must support this resolution for the game to run properly.

I have the exact same issue on my Acer Aspire one, Id click the .exe and it would crash instantly i played with all the settings in 3danalyze and it didn't work though i read that using astray does work so I'm re downloading it and will give it ago if i get it to work ill re-post my findings on here.
The Irony is I also purchased Two Worlds and through 3dAnalyze I got it to run lol Laggy as hell even on the lowest settings, even on my larger acer aspire with a 1.9ghz processor it still lags a bit but runs.

Works fine on Dell Duo 1090 (which has an integrated intel graphics card too)
I tried it in a hp311c with a atom n270 and nVidia ION, but while the game is playable, the performance is terrible.

The framerate plummets if you zoom out or if there are more than four creatures/npcs on screen (under 5 fps at times)
This while divine divinity runs perfectly when using the software renderer...disappointing....

Unfortunately it seems that Sacred's performance is bad no matter what you play it on. Even on my gaming desktop I get massive FPS drops when zoomed out or in busy areas.

Maybe it has to do with what operating system you use, as I never have any slowdowns zoomed in or out on my desktop machine, using Vista 64.
Me too!! been very frustrated with that - didnt work on my quad core desktop, wont work on my netbook. *Double Facepalm*

I have the same netbook, and I'm having the same issue. The Mini 311 easily exceeds even the recommended requirements for the game, so I don't understand why the performance is so bad. I've never had issues with the Ion in terms of compatibility - it's not like having a buggy Intel accelerator. All I can think is that it's something to do with Win7? Seriously, the game should run like a dream on this netbook.

So frustrating, I was really looking forward to replaying this game on the go :(

Well, I have Windows Xp on my 311c, so it's not that.....
It used to run fine on my Athlon XP1500 with a geforce 3 on windows XP, which is only a bit faster than the 311C.
