I myself played Sacred when it first came out, but only for a total of about 25-30 hours, so I consider myself "new".
So let the Introduction Thread commence!

I go by CymTyr (sim teer) and I've only briefly played Sacred in the past. I enjoy a variety of games but my favorites are the rpg genre and fps games. I enjoy action rpg's as well, but that falls under the rpg genre as far as I'm concerned.
I started playing computer games when I was 9 years old, playing Wasteland of all games. My passion for the computer soon threatened my love of my original NES console, and I was never the same afterward.
I've had some form of computer entertainment for nearly 20 years now, and bought an Alienware last year because I came into some money and have always wanted one. No, I did not get the 5k model, I got a modest 1.7k machine, which is what it would have cost me to buy a store model and upgrade it myself.
Other than that, I'm awaiting news of whether we'll be able to play the GOG version of Sacred on multiplayer so we can start getting some groups going.
Anyway just a little bit about me, so now it's your turn to share.

I played Sacred a while back but never got the expansion or went multiplayer so I've just got it from GoG here.
RPG/FPS is my primary form of entertainment, mostly FPS these days because of my decreasing amount of free time, but action RPGs like Sacred can be played in quick blasts (or equally 6 hour binges).
I guess I'll be playing on this machine which is a Dell Precision M90 (2x2.16 GHz, 3GB, Quadro 2500M), as I doubt the little 12" laptop will cut it ;) I have an 8x2.5 GHz, 4GB, GeForce 9500 machine which I might run it on at a later date but that's mostly a work rig.
I'm afraid I'm a PC man through and through, though one could argue my first gaming experience was on a VIC-20 (4KB RAM!) the real gaming days started with my 12MHz Intel 80286 with 512KB of RAM and a 20MB drive.

I started playing games back in the late 70's on various machines..I had to have been 2 or 3 or someting. My first real memories of gaming are on the Atari 2600; we didn't have a PC so I was mostly a console guy for years.
However, I did get the chance to play early PC games at my grandma's house. She always had a current computer: I played everything from oregon trail, beyond castle wolfenstein, to the Bard's Tale.
I didn't really get in to PC gaming on my own until about 99, when I bought my first computer. (366 emachine...w00t.)
I'm the type that plays games on anything: I don't consider myself a PC or a Console guy, since I play games on both. I'm as comfortable playing Final Fantasy XII as I am playing STALKER. I tend towards RPGs and Strategy games, but I'm up to trying anything.
I hadn't played the Sacred games before I saw them on here, but I downloaded the demo in perperation. Right now I"m downloading the game and can't wait to get in to it...
Hopefully we can work something out on the MP side.

hi all, i to am new to sacred, bought it last month for $6. at a barrgin shop, been playing rpg games since nintendo's dragon warrior, ultima, ff, then got a comp in 95 so first comp game was dink smallwood then bought icewind dale and baldurs gate collections then diablo, diablo2 and then neverwinter knights, WoW,. one day found other games online like ran online, heros online, rappelz, last choas-(diablo2-3 wannabe), and then i found SACRED i love it, it has all i want.

My online and rpg name has been Ransom Pendragon since the days I played MUD games as a grad student.
I really decided to post because deejrandom admitted to playing Oregon Trail. This and Epic Pinball are the reasons I still own my IBM Thinkpad laptop that runs win 3.1 and weighs a good 10 lbs.
I was late to the party as far as gaming goes but love rpgs (and have just barely branched out from "Sword and Sorcery" type stories). I also like strategy games, like all the Total War games. Occassionally I will play an FPS (Dues Ex, Max Payne). I don't go in for multiplay anymore. I used to play Americas Army quite a bit a few years ago and even spent a few months in a clan.
Since I am all grown up and can buy what I want I have a decent custom built gaming PC. I bought it from Puget Custom Computers a few years back and just recently had to replace the mobo so upgraded a tad while I was at it:

I think I read about GOG in PC Gamer but I own the Witcher (and the new enhanced one as well) Sacred is the first game I bought from GOG.
Do you get combat sound and dialogue after the tutorial?

There should be combat sound and dialogue after the tutorial, but it's been a while so I'm not 100% sure.

As for the sound, I'm not sure of the tutorial, but I know I have sound but I don't think there is much spoken dialog throughout the game.
I'm currently running through the game as a Dwarf...well inbetween my Fallout 3 gaming sessions ;)
I'm really enjoying sacred. IT feels like Someone said "What if Diablo was designed by a European company? Probably scandinavian or german in orgin.." I have no idea if that is near the truth, but honestly the game has that European, dark fantasy feel to it.
As for Oregon Trail: I saw this shirt the other day I want to get You have died of Dysentery I cannot tell you how many gravestones I left on the ol' trail....

The sound issue in Sacred was bugging me so I downloaded DosBox and fired up Oregon Trail. =)
But I wanted to play my new game so I just fixed the sound thing in Sacred by switching from 3D to 2D sound. (Found it in a post somewhere else-- not creative enough to fix it on my own). Just thought I would post that in case anyone else ends up with the same trouble.
(Now I have to fix a sound issue w Oregon Trail--it freezes on event sounds like losing a wagon wheel).

Heh yah German RPg's tend to have that Ultra realistic dark age look about them.
well at least the ones I've played...

I downloaded and played the game over Thanksgiving weekend. Other than Oblivion, this is the first time I've really spent any time on any RPG. I tend to lean toward stretagy games. The tutorial is more in th line of extra help messages during the first mission. The advise comes in the form of pop up dialog boxes. At some point in the game you get a message that the tutorial is now over, have fun. For the most part the tutorial was enough to get me started, but I do which there was more detail on armer sets. I found those out after a while, but wish I'd know earlier.
BTW, one nasty little thing that came as a surprise was what happened when I found additional horses. Thinking I could sell them and still keep my own, I rode each to the closest town and sold them. After selling the second of two, I lost the horse shoe icon next to my characgters picture. Didn't think much of that at the time because I was planning to return to pick up my horse where I left it. Only thing, horse wondered off and couldn't be found. So, not only lost the horse but all of the eqipment I'd picked up as well. Thank goodness there is a save feature. That's the one thing I've been quick to learn save often is you don't like starting over from scratch in the event you are killed. Also, after playing the game for about 30 hours now, a programable keyboard or mouse where you can remap keyss to macros is a big help in combat.

Nice. I bought the game and then quickly got swallowed up alive and whole by Fallout 3. So i've played a big of Sacred, but not as much as i want to...I'm just enthralled in the capitol wasteland at the moment ;)

I'm giving it a bit longer before my second playthrough of FO3. I really love that game, but want to give it time so I have multiple playthroughs :)

Yup, plus they have 3 great pieces of DLC coming out in Jan, feb, and March. The march piece will have (somehow) a continuation after the end of the game and raise or unlock the level cap. Plus there will be all kinds of mods start coming out now that construction kit is out for it..well assuming you have the PC version.
