There seems to be a bit of a stigma on several online forums directed at gamers who aren't "hardcore".

I'm actually not embarrassed to admit that I like my RPG games to be easy as I'm unable and unwilling to play anything that involves frequent deaths and constant fleeing from combat. Instead, I prefer to hack and slash my way through hoards of feeble enemies and become the ultimate killing machine with little resistance.

With that in mind, I just wanted to establish if Sacred Gold is likely to fulfill my simple tastes or whether I'm likely to become frustrated.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated ...except recommendations to buy a Wii :)
Haha! Nooo don't buy a wii! :P

I'm pretty similar to you then! I like to be able to cut through a swathe of enemies. I actually finished this game on Bronze the other day. What I found is that initially it's a bit of a grind with some levelling up to be done, but towards the middle/end of the game, you will romp through it.

I started on Silver just after that and even that's not too difficult either. One thing I would say is that after doing a little research on character builds and the like, I'm far more comfortable. I read up on what Combat Arts (the unique techniques your character uses) do and which ones are the best to invest in.

I have to say I love this game. So glad I bought it. So, best of luck! I hope this was useful! :)

Thanks Nel-A - really appreciate the advice and glad to know I'm not the only one.

Seems like it's worth a shot and as it's on a promo at the moment, now's as good at time as any.
No problem! Glad to have helped! It'd be cool to see what you think when you've played some of it! :)
Well - I've started it and am completely overwhelmed mainly by all the weapons stats and bonuses....this is after reading the manual!

For instance, I change a weapon to one that has (what I assume) is a damage range normally displayed as two numbers such as 77-90. In some cases, if the new weapon has a greater "range" than the previous weapon, the "attack" stat is reduced. I'm not sure if the attack/defense stats refer to speed, ability to use the weapon and/or something entirely different.

It's probably something blindingly obvious and is the reason I like my games to be easy (see OP)!

Some clarity would be much appreciated!
Hmmm! Interesting question! I'm not actually 100% sure why that is! My guess is that the overall attack stat is the average your character would do, after all the equipment you have is taken into consideration?

For instance, it may be that one weapon does 77-90, but the other does 50-95, so the average would be lower? This is all guesswork btw! lol

I'll have a read and if I find anything useful, I will let you know. meanwhile, there are bound to be people better qualified to answer this on here!
Okay, so I found a site that might be useful. Some absolute hero put together an in depth guide about everything attacking and defensive:

http://forum.sacred2.com/showthread.php?t=40852

From what I read it seems like a good way to just keep it simple it just to go by that Attack Stat. If it's higher, it's generally better. From reading this site though, a lot of stuff affects it, like which weapon it is and which character is wielding it; what bonuses the item has; the level the item is at relative to the character, etc.
Thanks again Nel-A. I think I've worked it out... The damage of say 77-90 is the weapon damage whereas the Attack, Defense and Hit% stats refer solely to the last creature that you faced.

Hence, I may have used a weaker weapon to fight the lowest of opponents giving the attack stat a high score. Then the weapon with the greater damage may have been used against a more worthy foe...

Am reading through the link provided so will see how things go. Having Googled though it seems that others found the games stats a bit bemusing during early play.

Will persevere and keep you posted. Thanks again.
Ah of course! That makes sense! Well, I'm glad you got that cleared up buddy! Happy gaming! :)
