Really? I didn't know CDV went out of business. Why are they then still keeping their part of rights to distribute in the US? They should really sell them to Deep Silver so Deep Silver could get the Gold Edition here and other places.

The problem is probably that if CDV knows potential money is involved I doubt they will do anything unless Deep Silver comes with an offer (they maybe already did).
Something needs to be done prior to the release of Sacred 3 ...if anything to increase marketing hype.

Agreed 100%.

CDV went insolvent in 2010:

Before the servers went offline, most people on the Darkmatters.org Sacred forum were into the Community Patch which requires Ice & Blood. Having had some time to play a few characters with the newest version of the CP, I do hope that GoG offers it as additional content if they decide to have it as an offering.

I have no idea about how the US vs international rights situation with the game will play out. I only bought Ice & Blood since I received S2 Collector's Edition(international version) and I had multiplayer people that I joined server sessions with that had also played the first Sacred game.

That's the thing - we really need the CDV and Deep Silver issues resolved. Sacred 2: Gold on GOG - and other digital places, too - would be great, so we can actually use the Community Patch.
Sacred 2: Gold Edition = currently 5.08 GBP on Gamersgate UK (66% off).

That's probably around $8 USD, or so...
That's probably before any sort of conversion fees or anything else of that sort...

So y'all know - yes, that version does contain Securom Internet DRM..

Please go here for steps to get vanilla Sacred 2 to work on Win 7 x64. I tested it extensively today, after performing these steps which I recovered from other S2 posts on that forum, I wrapped them into one package. Let me know if it works for you :) I'm really excited about being able to play Sacred 2 vanilla again!

Interesting fix. That line about OpenAl, that does that turn it off completely or make it work with it? I remember reading a lot on the official forums people having issues with OpenAl but it always worked for me.

Another good thing is to turn on admin rights and do not play with the highest GPU settings even if you don't mind low frame rates because it will might trigger a memory leak.

That turns OpenAL off completely, and solved the random CTD's for me.

DrIstvaan: I know how you feel ;-). I also like Sacred, and played S2 for a looong time (right now, I have issues with it under Win7.)
You can solve the Win7 problem with Sacred 2 by installing the basic game and then only installing the first major patch (the big 600+ MB one). don't update beyond that and the game runs fine.
I looked over my previous responses, but I forgot to add in my thoughts about the Community Patch.

I've not quite completed all of the CP content(currently about to head to the Blood Forest part of Ice & Blood), but the new content along with the improved stability has added a bit more to the game.

I have a build that faced a difficult boss thru the CP in comparison to the regular game bosses. There are definitely multiple opportunities for tough encounters from quests, as well as items that make for more character building potential.

Add in the probability that there will be one more CP revision, and I believe that the CP really makes the game a more enjoyable and challenging experience.
