Hello fellow RCT fans,
I have an issue and would like some help. I cannot hear any music from the custom folder in RCT3. The files do work outside of the game (they're all .mp3's), and the game does recognize that they're there but when I try to play any of them no sound comes out. The default music does work. Is there something I could be doing wrong or is this a bug in the game? It also does not load any pictures for custom banners. I remember playing RCT3 years ago and this was not an issue back then, so it might be just this version. Thank you all in advance fro your help!

I was wondering this myself. Ideally I'd like something like with the GTA games when I can just put a bunch of my faves on there, unfortunately calling me a computer idiot is an insult to computer idiots. :D

I am having the exact same problem with issue. Does anyone have a solution?
I had a look, and all the original music is in the WMA format, so the game may not even be able to play mp3s. Have you tried using a mp3->WMA converter?

Edit:
I just tried converting one and it works fine for me (by selecting it as background music in game options), I then also tried another song as a mp3 and it also works.

So, the question would be where you put your music.

Edit 2:
I tried it out with a ride, and the game plays the music at the entrance to the ride (location based), so if your ride starts noisily and doesn't return to the station until the end, you might not be able to hear any music at all while riding.

Hi Thanks for the response, I have already tried everything you have suggested prior to posting the issue on GOG. I'll keep playing around with it. I am running windows 8, not sure if that may be the cause of the problem.

BTW, I have already played this game on win XP with no issues but bought the win8 version here and now things aren't working as they used to, thanks

I'm using Win7 and have no trouble, but it's quite possible that Win8 is the issue. Microsoft may have done something with the My Music folder when they made Win8.

WingedKagouti:
Could it have problems with variable bitrate? Fixed was still pretty much the standard when the game came out, and some older players choke on that. Try an mp3 with fixed bitrate?

Just a random idea, I don't have 3 installed currently to check myself.
