Hey everyone. I've been playing RCT1 for years now but recently for some reason it's only been running in windowed mode. Even if I go in to the games options and pick a resolution (full screen) it always stays windowed.

This has only started recently and I don't know why. What used to happen is I use to click play the game would load and my computers resolution would change and the game would play in full screen.

I've tried to run the game in a compatibility mode to see if that, helps and had it run in a specified resolution but it still appears windowed with my desktop behind it.

Can anyone help me out at all it's driving me mad and I don't know how to fix it.

As it turns out, OpenRCT2 can deal with all RCT1 installs.

What worked for me is the combination of WinXP SP2 compatibility mode and disabling full-screen optimizations.

Darvond: As it turns out, OpenRCT2 can deal with all RCT1 installs.
It explicitly requires RCT2 files regardless of whether you have an RCT1 installation.

They're 5$ & 10$ each here on GOG. Not exactly a hard purchase when they go on sale pretty often.

Hey there, I took your advice and ran it via win xp sp2 but even though the resolution my screen changes the game is still windowed

try windows 95 capability mode + run as administrator

In my case this solved the problem

If the full screen problem is solved
I recommended to set the compatibility mode to Windows XP or Windows 98.

Hi, it gave me a permission error for my windows.
Does it help if you reset your Windows Firewall?
