My first purchase from gog.com, RCT 2, is impossible to install. This probably doesn't reflect well on the website if they don't provide a working purchase.

My first problem arised when I found that it takes about 5 minutes for the installer to even start up. It then actually starts installing, and then just fails around the point where css46.dat attempts to get installed. If you ignore this error, it just fails a huge number of times later on, and you can't get through it.

I'd welcome any advice.

I'm having the same problem -- the GoG downloader even reports the installer as corrupt. SSD and hard drives check out just fine, downloading without the installer hasn't worked, either.

It must not be a one-off problem then. I hope this can get fixed. I was way too excited when I saw this was on sale, and spent about 2 hours experiencing an emotion somewhere between anger and sadness.
I bought it and installed it yesterday and it works fine. Everyone just calm down, we will get to the bottom of this. Now what systems are you running?

EDIT: I'm checking around the regular forum to find someone more tech savy than myself to fix your problem.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is a GOG v2.0.0 installer, and so as a single file installer it has no verification check. To verify the integrity of the installer you need to check its security certificate as follows:

1) Right-click the installer and select Properties.
2) Click on the Digital Signatures tab.
3) Select the GOG Limited signature and click the Details button.
4) In the Digital Signatures Details window that appears it should say whether the signature is okay or not. If it isn't then you need to redownload it.

As for the 5 minutes startup for the installer, that screams to me of UAC getting in the way. Run the installer as administrator and see how it goes. Also, don't install into Program Files / Program Files (x86) as this will hopefully avoid other problems post-installation.

I have checked the digital signature and it says it is not OK. I will redownload it and get back to you.
I purchased and installed on Saturday without incident.

do you need the RCT 1 add on?
Could be your antivirus being over vigilant and blocking the installer/download. Try disabling it then redownload/install.

Silence means problem fixed?
I downloaded this without using the downloader, it installed and plays just fine.
I just bought the game as well, but its not working either-

1. Norton antivirus keeps the game installing from being downloaded from chrome (i.e. keeps on saying that it is not safe- noted as a Insight Network Threat)

2. DIsabled the norton analysis but now it says that it's not a 'valid win32 application'

I'll play around with some of the aforementioned solutions and get back to you guys soon. Did anyone have similar issues?

Thanks in advance!
I just fixed it myself, it was an antivirus problem as a previous poster mentioned
