I remember playing RCT 1 awhile back when it was brand new. I'm considering picking up RCT 2 during the black friday sale.

How does RCT 2 handle on modern systems? What are the major differences between RCT 1 and RCT 2?

My system is running Windows 7 64-bit and is equipped with a Ge Force 250 GTS.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Wikipedia highlights some of the changes nicely here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RollerCoaster_Tycoon_2
Look under the "Gameplay" heading. I would try to summarize the changes here, but you're better off with a more detailed explanation.

As for your question about modern systems and this game, I have purchased it through GOG and it runs well for me. I am currently on Windows Vista, though. I think I have a AMD 7770 HD card. Also, I had to download it through the GOG downloader for it to install correctly. But, it runs smoothly for me.

I love the RCT series, and I hope you enjoy RCT2, if you decide to purchase it.

Good luck!

Thank you for pointing that out squeezycrumb. Does RCT 2 allow you to alter multiple tiles at the same time for landscaping purposes as RCT 1 did? For example, can I change the level of 10 tiles at once.

Yep! You can alter the size of the terrain you are raising or lowering. So, you can change only one square of terrain, or 10 at once, or other sizes the the tool selects.
