I have Windows 7 64-bit.
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 runs fine.

Now my problem is i've tried to run in compatibility mode on all compatible modes.
When i double click the .exe file, i get an hour glass, then nothing.
I dont even get to a black screen like some other people in the forum.
Its like i didnt even choose to run anything. NOTHING happens.

Please help me. This is only the second game i've bought on GOG, I'd like to be able to play it.

To be clear, absolutely nothing happens. Its like i didnt even click the icon.

You know whats fantastic?

I got the game through "other means", and it worked fine.

Yet i PAID for this version and i got fucked.

FUCK YOU GOG.
Try running RCT.exe, not launcher.exe. It's in the \GOGcom\RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe\ folder.
1) RollerCoaster Tycoon to install the C:\Program Files\GOGcom\RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe

2) Cancel the DEP for RollerCoaster Tycoon(RCT.EXE)

I'm having the exact same problem, also on Win 7 64-bit. It installed fine, but now when I click RCT.exe, no matter what the compatibility mode, it gets the loading icon up (what used to be an hourglass), and then just nothing. Nada. I've tried googling, I've tried running as administrator, nothing works. I'm pretty sure I just wasted $6 and I really wanted to play this game, too. >:(
Tooladdict195: I got it working! I took tester98's suggestion of turning off DEP, it might work for you too. Go into Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced system settings > Advanced tab > Performance Settings... > Data Execution Prevention tab.
Switch to 'Turn on DEP for all programs except those I select' (the second option). Click 'Add...', find RCT.EXE, and add it. Click 'Apply'.

I had to do this ages ago to get Sims 3 to work but I'd completely forgotten. Thanks tester98!

ps. I'm also running it in compatibility mode for Vista, and I added it to my anti-virus's trusted programs list.

This worked for me, but you can also add "launcher.exe" to the list of programs (alongside "RCT.exe") and have both of them work so that you can still use the launcher. Thank you very much, sir.

I was having a problem starting it, and this worked very well for me.... Now hopefully the game wont crash after a while like it when I tried playing it from my cds
This isn't working for me and it saddens me... This is the first game I bought on GOG and there are other games I would LOVE to get here I love some of these old games but I can't buy anymore if they are all just gonna crash like this... It's kinda frustrating because I refrained from "other means" because I wanted to buy it and the most convenient way to do this doesn't work... /eternalsadness

P.S. - It's been a whole day and GOG's support team still hasn't gotten back to me :/

Yeah...screen flickers a few times and then the game minimizes, wash, rinse, repeat...I cannot play.

I've just bought the whole pack (1 - 3) and had exactly the same problem. Quick moment with uncle google and I found this thread.

Thank you man! You saved me ;)
My Gog.com Downloader screen opens but that's it. Never downloads anything. Bottom left corner says "Online - 0 KB/s" I have logged in w/ my email and password, so what's the deal??
Turning off DEP for RCT did not work for me, neither did setting DEP to Opt In. However, i used EMET 5.0 to set DEP, ASLR, and SEHOP to Opt In... After the reboot, the game worked fine on Win8 without admin rights or AppCompat modes. EMET is free from Microsoft and adds security features to frequently hacked software (its a good idea to import the popular software config after installing). In this case i lowered the security of Windows (allowing RCT to run) and added additional security to vulnerable apps at the same time.

Thanks GOG for letting us run Good Old Games!

The game didn't start up on my system (Windows 7 64bit) but running it as admin solved the problem in my case. Just pointing this out in case anyone reads this thread and wonders if this has been fixed.
