I'm getting this error when I try to load a custom scenario or when I alt-tab back into the game.

I have:

Enabled compatibility mode

and

completely uninstalled the game and clean the folders and then reinstalled.


I have no idea how to fix this issue, and the last thread on this subject 404'd.

Its perfectly normal that the game crashes the very first time you load a new custom scenario. Some sloppy stuff on importing new scenery that all versions of RCT2 have. But that should happen only one time per scenario/savegame. Just restart the game and try this scenario again, if it works now nothing to worry about.

Other than that, mine runs with "disable visual themes" and as admin. Automatically changing wallpapers sometimes cause problems with games too, turn that off if you use it. Not sure about the alt-tabbing problem otherwise. If you do that a lot, maybe playing in windowed mode would be an idea?

My game was working perfectly, then I got to Evergreen Gardens, and after a while the game suddenly was frozen, and I had to restart my computer to get the game running. Then I made it to the main page, tried to load a save to test the game, and it told me error, and that access violation and closed out. Try 3, I didn't even make it to the main page before it had an error. Unistalled and am reinstalling (kept save games because of scenario completion). Hopefully this fixes it. My first issue occured because my keyboard has a stupid button that brings up the calculator right above the backbutton (i regularly use the backbutton as a quick way to close out the pop up windows while playing RCT) and it would bring my screen back to the desktop because of it. Hope this fixes it.
