Windows 7 64 bit here, crashes on saving and loading. Compatibility to Windows 98, Windows XP SP2 and admin privileges, no help.

Did you try running the 001 file from the Saved Games folder with RCT as mentioned earlier in this thread? Are you running the game through rct.exe instead of GoG's wrapper?

It must have something to do with aero or desktop styles, though, because when saving/loading, the game opens a system window inside RCT and this apparently leads to the crash in some cases. As I wrote before, it works without any problems in Windows 10 for me, but I do have experienced the same problem in Win7. Right now I don't remember if I was able to solve it, though.

I need some help. I have the original RCT1 disc. Played for 3 days. Ran just fine and saving and loading was fine. Then windows did a long ass update. Came back when it was done, could not load or save any games. Tried all the compatibility modes, none work. They either make the game crash or when it loads in, all my progress is gone (?). Running as administrator just fucks it up actually too. What should i do?


Nevermind, went to windows update and uninstalled the recent updates and went back to the previous build and now the game is working! I knew that update had something to do with it. but why? Well at least now I know

Which updates did you uninstall? Recent is relative.
