The app for iOS is free but offers in-app purchases. Quoting this message from the developer:
Thanks for picking up the PC version. I have a big update for the desktop version that includes all the enhancements and changes that are in the mobile version right now and I'll be making it live next week.
The upcoming PC patch will add in the new mobile features that include revive potions, 4 gauntlets that appear in the town story mode, and the game can be continued to be played after beating the final boss.
Once that patch comes out the games will be nearly identical with the following differences
1) Desktop is a premium purchase, mobile is free with in app purchases and opt-in ads
2) Desktop has spell points, mobile uses gems
3) Desktop can customize controls, has steam save game cloud sync
4) Mobile has streaming and recording built directly into it in the settings menu
