This is my first purchase on gog that I wish there was a way to get my money back. It is very pixilated, the controls are way too dated, there is not enough information about the items you are have, you get sick too easy, you die too easy and too soon, and there little to no feedback as to what is happening to you.
It is hard to believe it had a sequel and one I wish I had never had to experience. Personally, for me it is a bad game poorly implemented, and holds no appeal or lasting value.

Are you sure you undestood the "old" part in the site title "Good Old Games"?

Yes, I did and I also understand the "Good" part of it as well. This game fails to fall into the "Good" category by a long shot. But you are right, it is old so it has that going for it!

But it is good one! Both Robinsons and Deus are classics in survivor games. If you check it again you will see that there is a lot of info on everything. Robinson to old for you? Try Deus? Not good? Well maiby then you are not a survivor games guy and you should try some other games liek SHOGO or Redneck Rampage. Maiby some strategy like Perimeter?
Also try to play that games i narcade modes where you have just adventure and fighting part of the games with no sick and hunger etc. But still it will be hard - it is just that type of the game.
And remember - just becouse you dont like it doesn't mean it is bad. I dont like racing games so I will never buy TOCA - its not game for me :)

True, games are for certain people. I do like this type of game, but I found the lack of information about what was wrong with you coupled with the fact that the items themselves give no information as to what they crippling.
I ended up trying all the things that I had in my pack that were medicine of some type. This is both guess work, and a waste of items you may need later.
I would have at least thought he would have known of the items he brought with him, what they actually are for to use them properly.
The games comes across as either not much love was put into it when it was made, or the guys doing it had not thought it completely through.
I did try both games and it seemed like the best course of action is to kill anything or anyone you meet to loot them for items you may need. I guess I was hoping for more.
One last thing. Old or not it could have had a better control system or at least let you remap keys.

There is a lot of information hidden in the manual and the white booklet, so it's a good idea to read those. Remember, back in the days when this game was released, ingame help systems were very rare.
But by reading the manuals, you should find many answers. I played this a lot recently, and thanks to reading and rereading (as needed) the documentation I didn't really have that many problems - only challenges. :-)
For complete self-diagnostics, check your samson computer. It has everything you need to know, such as body temperature and injury.
Faithful, this game is very hard but it is a cult in is niche genre, if you aren't able to understand that PC games from early '90 were fairly more complex than todays console games don't buy them. I bet you should say the same about any Ultima up to the 8 one, and you will be deadly wrong for a lot of people! Aim yourself in late '90 or even past 2000 games if you're not able to do this king of retrogaming. Or simply, do not write reviews if you can't undestand the game and place it in it's period.

Two things:
1. You assume I do not understand games that are too complex, and you get to define what complex means, so it seems.
2. I have been gaming since Pong and Breakout days so, I think I do get it and I have played many games, since I grew up while they were being produced. Yes, I remember having to create your own .bat files to make DOS games run and other such things with joystick settings and such.
This game is simply lacking. Lack of Information should not be confused with complexity. When a game is nothing more than guess work, then it is not complex, it is muddled.
I still think it seems logical that the very pack of items he brought with him when he crashed; he should know what they are and what they do. That is not too complex to understand.
I have played hundreds of games and for me, this game is one of the worst, and it is by far the worst purchase I made on gog. If they would let me give it away I would.

All the medical tools relate to real life medical tools, so they should be at least somewhat logical to most people.
Okay, I have two points to make here. First, there's quite a lot of information in the documentation, either as direct info or more subtle hints. In another thread, you (Faithful) asked a question which I answered, and the reason I knew the answer was that I had read the documentation. The manual and white booklet should IMO be considered part of the game, because they're essential for survival.
Secondly, the low amount of information is probably deliberate. You need to figure things out for yourself, to a certain degree, as that is what survival is about in real life too. I think it works well in this game, but it demands that you're willing to learn.
For what it is, Robinson's Requiem is a good game. I don't think it's perfect - it does have flaws, and the controls are unpleasant at times. But "a shame of a game" - no way. As long as people know from the outset that this is a demanding game, they should not be afraid of trying it, because it really does offer unique and interesting gameplay and some very cool challenges. And while it can be frustrating, it can also be very rewarding.
All IMO, of course.

I guess we each have our own opinion, but of course mine is correct! :oP
It is only a game and thus for me it is uninstalled, and I will do just fine never playing it again. For those that like, that is fine, and I trust you get many hours of enjoyment out of it.
I like that you are able to take an objective view of this game, I have already bought it, but really I consider $5.99 to be purchasing Ishar and then I got robinsons requiem for -1 cent.
'here is not enough information about the items you are have, you get sick too easy, you die too easy and too soon'
Welcome to Robinsons Requiem, that is the game you paid for. Well worth 5.99 IMHO.
I played and completed Robinson's Requiem on the Amiga back in the 90s and yes it is a tough game. Basically it's all about discovery and (as other posters have pointed out) a willingness to devote some time to learn what is going on. After getting to grips with it, I found a deep and very involving little game and yes I bought the Ishar Trilogy too. Both of the titles are well worth their price to me at any rate.
