Hey ussnorway,

The game has both single player and multiplayer components. It was made in the XNA Framework which requires .net framework 4. You should be able to install .net 4 on XP 64 bit, at least according to the install instructions found on the download site. The instructions say you might need to install the Windows Imaging Component in order for it to work. Here is a link. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24872

Hope this helps.

Thanks miniplush,

Net 4 is designed to give standard (slow) performance across a network feasibly running different operating systems i.e Vista, XP and now 7 & 8… IMO on a multiplayer game that’s a reasonable minimum requirement.

Can I install Net 4 onto my xp 64bit… Yes certainly but I won’t be doing that because I use xp for its speed and installing net4 is tying an anchor around my system that I couldn’t quickly untie again.

This is just my personal opinion but if net 4 is required to play the [single-player] game then that should have been placed in the minimum requires somewhere on the payment page. It’s one line of type which allows the purchaser to make an informed decision.

Obviously I’ve blown my money but I’m not roar about it… the game is a genuine attempt at fun for $10 so I wish it well.

We'll try and put it up under the requirements, I honestly didn't know it was an issue. Thanks for your understanding, we are just two guys trying to make the best game we can.
It works fine for me on my Vista 64bit, don't have a XP 64-bit to test, though I already did have .NET 4 setup for other programs.

.NET can be difficult to install and uninstall though I've had success doing so for multiple .NET versions on work systems using the discontinued Microsoft CleanUp utility, by removing them first through the control panel and then through the utility. There are unofficial download links to grab the utility even if their technet and KB articles no longer recommend using it and provide a download (in my understanding due to the fact that the utility interacts directly with the registry and if used poorly can force a system rebuild).
Excuse my being dumb about this stuff, but Isn't .NET 4 used for a ton of games now? I have hundreds of games across different digital retailers (steam, gog, impulse, etc.) and a ton of indies that I think require this. I'm on a slow dual core Win XP 32 bit system and run games just fine.

Does it permanently affect other parts of the system or just those games that require it? I also see other versions of .NET being installed sometimes (.NET 3.X), so I just assume 4 only affects those games that require it and is a non-issue otherwise?

Anyway, thanks for the great game devs. I honestly feel like I underpaid for this excellent game. Hope it does well enough that you make another game, any kind of game, because you created something really great here.

.net 4 is the current network standard and used for any game/ program that requires a network to work.

Your slow xp 32 bit rans as fast as a fast vista… Yes the effect of .net 4 on your system is permanent [not just when you are on a network] and yes the slow xp system would run faster [off the network] without .net4.

Fyi I’m very happy with the game and agree that the price was a good one.
