aristotle61: Speaking of bugs, I don't know what's going on with GOG. I have a permanent purple dot next to Community but whenever I check it it says there are no replies. The only reason I found your post is I did a search. I saw your friend request and I didn't remember your name so I searched for the post to verify if it was you who I talked to about Revenant. Otherwise I would never have known you replied.
Regarding Revenant, thanks for the offer but, being stubborn, I ended up re-installing the game and tinkering around with it a bit, and was able to move past the point I was stuck on. However, after I got past the caves I ended up quitting again for different reasons. I sensed that I had reached that point where the quality dropped off so I took a peek at the game beyond that point by looking at a Youtube video. My suspicions were correct so I quit and just watched the rest of the game on Youtube. The game seems to devolve into a bunch of similar mazes followed by a very disappointing end boss so I have no regrets. It's a shame. The beginning of the game is really good even with some obvious flaws. It's obvious the latter part of the game was really rushed.
It's kind of funny because after quitting Revenant I started playing Omikron: The Nomad Soul, the other game made at the same time as Revenant by the same company. The one that bombed and forced them to rush Revenant to get some desperately needed funds. I ended up quitting that game too. The game is broken into four regions and or chapters. It can be difficult to get into at first but I ended up really liking the first region. However, the moment I entered the second region the game was terrible. So I watched the rest of that on Youtube too, and again, had no regrets.
Did you finish Revenant? Maybe you saw things differently than me.
PS
I noticed that you are playing Black Moon Chronicles now. How did you stumble onto that hidden gem? I played that a few years ago and didn't expect much, but I really liked it, and played to the end.
I think the only reason I found it was because it was on sale for next to nothing and I was curious about what it was since I had never heard of it before.
Hi again, and thanks for accepting my request!
I have experienced some problems and annoyances with Revenant but, luckily, most of them have a workaround. For example, if you alt+tab then access the menu, game will always crash, so I avoid that. Enemies can be tough but they always do the same sequences so they become predictable with time. I agree that many parts feel rushed but, beyond that, I've fallen in love with the soundtrack and Locke's crude sense of humour. He is level 25 now and going through a labyrinth very much like Diablo 2's Arcane Sanctuary... I believe that must be close to the ending!
This Omikron you mention sounds interesting. I might go look for it after Revenant because I have a soft place for this kind of unpolished gems.
About Black Moon Chronicles, I discovered the comic books (Chroniques de la Lune Noire) many years ago. I didn't buy them back then because I didn't knew any french (I regret that now) but they led me to the strategy game, where I spent many hours creating crazy maps and watching massive armies clash with one another.
Unlike you, I still have to go through the campaigns... Therefore I bought it on Gog too :) A browser game called Winds of War also existed but, sadly, it had little success and was short lived.
