So, it looks like every video file in game is in low quality and low fps. Will it be updated to a better version and/or upscaled?

I hope so. Capcom didnt provide the best versions of these games and their cutscenes to GOG. But that can change. Maybe. Hopefully.

It's really really strange Capcom didn't give GOG the best versions and also strange GOG didn't ask them.
If we could make the cutscenes included in this pack work with the GOG version it would be nice. They're not upscaled or anything but they seem to run at a better framerate and therefore look smoother in motion.

Sadly I was not able to get them running with the GOG version yet. Only audio worked while video was giving me a black screen. If someone has a working solution for this problem I would gladly hear it.
No. They chose the original versions of each game on PC for the sake of preserving the original release.

Oh I was not talking about replacing them in the GOG version. Just finding a way to make them work with the GOG version so you could use them as some kind of cutscene mod if you want to.

The Mediakite version also had the same 10 fps CGI cutscenes.

It's not that strange. It's clear that CAPCOM pretty much told them "you got the approval, now do your thing" and left them to do some scavenging.

The video stream in those files is h264 while the game is using cinepak. You can convert 'em with FFmpeg. As is, only the staff credit sequences will work because they're untouched.

ffmpeg -i input.avi -c:v cinepak -c:a copy output.avi

Files you do this to will work with this version of the game. However, I'm not sure we're allowed to share 'em.

What isn't strange is that, once again, there are only complaints after a game launch. Actually, it's pretty much the normality these days.

Have you seen the video where the Youtube SphereHunter showed some info about the games, including interviews with the developers at GOG? They said that Capcom set very high standards in terms of what quality they want to see in the games.

Yes, now you will say "But that doesn't concern the FMVs". And that a dozen of other things aren't high quality in your eyes. Again, on every game launch these days, there is nothing but complaining. It's pretty much the norm these days, and only shows one thing: How disappointed and never satisfied people are these days. What it doesn't show is the realistic expectations one can have about 3 games for 24,99 €, which are more than 25 years old. I've read dozens of threads here, which were totally out of this world in terms of what they suggested.

Stay realistic people. We got 3 great games for 24,99 €, made to work on modern computers, and even improved in some cases. This is more than I ever expected, from Capcom or GOG.

I'm aware of that video and the interview, but that doesn't clarify exactly what CAPCOM regards as "high standards", especially when these ports were never that good to begin with. Talking about GOG's work, it's not that refined either. Sure, it's a lot of work (considering the simultaneous fixes on all versions) and it manages to make the game run, but that's what fan mods have been doing for ages and with greater extends. So yeah, realistically, CAPCOM having high standards is debatable at best.

Are you talking about the original PC ports by Capcom?

Then you have to discuss this statement with the developers at GOG.

Then I don't know why people would want to buy this bundle at all, if they think that what modders who do it for a hobby in their spare time do a "much better job".

I haven't come across any mod which is better than what high quality paid games offer, by the way. Just saying.

There are also much higher standards of quality when you do what you do for a living, with the pressure of having to offer something for what people pay.

Yes, it's not like GOG re-ported anything.

There are countless examples, just browse around pcgamingwiki. But if you want a striking example: Silent Hill 2 HD Collection vs SH2 Ehanced Edition. The latter puts the official work to shame.

The Tomb Raider remasters are the ideal high quality standard, and guess what, part of the team that worked on it is comes from the modding community. It's very clear that the standard is different for RE1, as CAPCOM's demand was most likely "just get them to run".

Nope.

I know that. But, you better don't read the Steam forums, as there are loads of complaints about the quality of the remaster.

But, frankly, I don't know how it contradicts what I wrote. The Tomb Raider remaster is a paid game, with a company as a backer which paid the development of the game.

I also don't know what we discuss here. Again, the people who think that mods do a better job should just use mods. I don't think so, so, I'm glad that these "remasters" are done. Especially, I can't be arsed to put work in effort to scrap together some well or not so well mods to improve the original games. I wouldn't even know where to buy the original games (especially not uncensored), if not here. So...

Nice denial. Enjoy the experience as you prefer then.

That wasn't even the point of this topic.
