I tested it out on multiple older games including Resident Evil 1 and 2. Once your controller disconnects, it can't reconnect again unless you quit the entire game, and start it up again. Your controller also won't work if you plug it after you start up a game. This is something that is not an issue on Steam, so it's unacceptable that this is a thing on GOG. I'm surprised that almost nobody complains about this.
Why do you disconnect your controller while playing and how many times that happens?

It sometimes disconnects accidentally because I use a DualShock 4 with a USB cable. A controller should work regardless if it disconnects for a moment, or you plug it in while the game is already running.

The intro of the "A" scenario and the credits scene can be quite long. So long, that your controller will automatically shutdown after a certain amount of time not pressing buttons.
My controller certainly doesn't shutdown after a certain amount of time of not pressing buttons passes, or maybe I have it at 30 mins or something like that

Controllers don't shut down by themselves. What I'm saying is that if it physically disconnects for a moment, than you can't use it anymore unless you quit the game and start it up again. If you start up the game without a controller, you can't plug it in after, cause the games won't detect it at all. I tried it with multiple GOG games and it's the same problem with all of them. This is not an issue on Steam, so this GOG controller support is half baked, and needs to be fixed.
I believe this is a problem with the games not being able to recognize a change in input devices while it's running(even though it was only disconnected for a moment). More of an issue with older games, I think.

GOG doesn't actually have controller support like Steam does. Part of this is because GOG Galaxy isn't required to be running in order to play the games, since they're 100% DRM free. In short, GOG's controller support is terrible, because it's non-existent(outside of the game itself, which to it's credit, DOES recognize a wider range of controllers than the original PC release).

the only issue I have is that I can't use the d-pad on my Xbox controller when playing re2. I tend to use the pad when it comes to tank controls as its easier than using the sticks.

I'm using a DualShock 4 and both the D-pad and the analog stick works.

Did you tested this out with Cyberpunk? Does it have the same problem? It's just hard to believe that GOG can't implement a fix, that at least remedies this if you play on Galaxy.

It's pretty much GOG's input wrapper's fault, has nothing to do with GOG Galaxy. They just don't try to reconnect a disconnected controller to reroute the input. No idea why they haven't fixed it yet, it's not difficult to re-establish connection with xinput or dinput.

No, I played with Keyboard and Mouse, and I haven't played since launch. Sorry. :c I do need to get back to that game though.
