MartinSp: It sounds like you are having problems with the video codec. Do you have a codec package installed, like K-Lite?
avatar
Mroowski: Yes, as mentioned in the first post. And the codec is enabled, because it does start and play (if only in windowed mode). The problem is the video doesn't scale at all, being stuck in the top left corner, all shrunk down.
Try this out. Right click on the game, go to Manage Installation, and click on Verify/Repair. I don't think that this will fix it, but it's worth a try. By the way, are you running the game on the same resolution as your monitors resolution is set?
So, no fixes yet?

Then uninstall the codec and all other codec packs. Perhaps this fixes th problem.
I run the game with no other than the stock windows video codecs installed.

Didn't help, same behaviour.

Didn't help either. And yes. And yeah, I've already tried switching resolutions around

I'm beginning to think that there is some conflict between this wrapper and my gpu. On my cheap old laptop this game works as intended, but it's my main desktop PC that has this issue.

Moreover, there's absolutely nothing wrong with my codecs - In fact I can play the cutscenes from the folder, opening the .*.bin files with a video player. And they scale, too.

That's odd. I don't know what else you can do. Sorry.

I have same problem and nothing works for me. It's odd because I have zero problems with Resident Evil 1.

you're right, I cannot make the RE2 FMV to work as well, despite being able to open all the bin video files with any media player outside the game, and I have none issue with the RE1 GOG released , so, is pretty weird indeed ..... I think is something related to the EXE from Leon and Claire and something in Windows 11 or GPU or CPU related, is damn weird in fact .... hope the GOG team release some fix or patch to resolve this, and I hope RE3 does not come up with this kind of problem trouble as well .....

Still no fix? such a shame, having auto-aim and quick-turn with the Classic Mod is cool and all, but I want to have the most "accurate" experience possible (plus, cloud saves), and the only problem so far is this damn issue with the FMVs!
Are you people who have a problem with the FMV's use an ultra widescreen monitor?

In my case - no.
I've somehow managed to make it work.

I'm not sure what I did *exacly*, but I've installed the MEGA K-Lite Pack and I played around with the Codec Tweak Tool - I think I've disabled Indeo 5 Codec, and then reanabled it through the tool - and this, to my suprise, did the job.

That's good to hear. I was sure that it was something about your PC that wasn't working correctly, because if it would be the games fault, GOG would have surely released a hotfix already.

The problem is CLEARLY related to codec, it would be fixed by a simple patch.
Would love for this users to tell which options he turned off, but that is not a solution, and we know GOG tries to fix issues, they released like 3 patches for RE3 since release.

What about RE1 and RE3? Are the FMV's in those work correctly for you?

RE1 cutcenes run at around 8fps, lol
No problems with RE3.
