Greetings!

I'm having a hard time getting used to k&m default keys in RE1.

i can't simply use the arrows with my right hand then A, X, ,C, V with my left hand.

I always use WASD to move characters in any videogame, even RE1 Remake use WASD to move the character and left shift to sprint, R to reload, mouse one as action and mouse 2 to aim. I literally went to RE1 HD remaster wiki site to copy the controls for original RE1, can't be done and i assume this is going to be the same with RE2 and RE3.

You can change arrows for WASD, that's not a problem, but you can't set "left shift" to run, the game forces you to use the V key plus arrow up to run, you can't change that ive tried, the best i could was W plus V to run but i dont want V to run.

I just want to use left shift to run, WASD to move, mouse 1 to shoot, mouse 2 to aim, F key to interact with objects etc pick items and enter or "O" for options, menus etc

Does anyone knows if this is possible? share your k&m configuration pls thx in advance.

So I found that in order to change keys I did this:
1) Hit F1 to bring up the control set up.
2) Right click on the box you wish to change. It will give you three options. You can add key, clear and reset to default.
3) Clear key. It will remove the currently set key.
4) Add key. Hit key you wish to set it too.

You have to do this for every box individually. I have not tested it in game yet. But it should work. I do hope this helps.
By default, mouse buttons cannot be assigned/bound to any functions - in Resident Evil 1 & 2 too, by the way.
You have to use a program like AutoHotkey for that.

Remapping Keys (Keyboard, Mouse and Joystick) | AutoHotkey
Have you honestly even tried getting used to the controls? Unless you're left handed, everything indicates you would want to handle movement, which is the thing you do the most, with your dominant hand. With those keybindings you've grown accustomed to, you would end up using the pinky finger to sprint. That's absolutely terrible!

That is for Nemesis, while the thread is about Resident Evil '96.

This is what happens when I don't take the time to read carefully. Which makes me wonder why don't these games have separate forums?

nahhh most games use left hand to move character with WASD keys like you do in FPS, rpgs, mmos etc even platformers like tomb raider. then you use right hand with your mouse to move camera etc

i guess ill use my xbox controllers, after all game was meant to be used with consoles and controllers, srsly i cant use my right hand to move the character with the arrows i mean i could practice yeah but this is the first game i've seen with this kind of controls in ages, not gonna train teh brain and hands just for classic resident evil games specially if a controller is more suitable for movement and tank controls.

Have you considered what most of those games have in common? You control the camera. That's often the thing you actually do the most. In classic Resident Evil, there's no need to control the camera. Also, tank controls, being digital, will work just the same on pretty much anything.

While I believe that you should be able to adjust things to your liking, I also believe the default configuration is good and better than what you suggest. Just sayin'.
