Cypers: Hey,

For all who experience this issue, would you mind sharing your PC specs with us?
Namely:
- CPU
- GPU
- GPU driver version
- OS(if wasn't mentioned earlier)
avatar
Timedye: CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
GPU: RTX 2060
GPU driver version: 555.99
OS: Windows 11 Home 64 bit

I've just updated to NVIDIA drivers 556.12. Didn't help. Still getting the stuttery animation.

aureilia: It's probably everyone...
avatar
Timedye: It's not everyone. I've watched videos from Avalanche Reviews and The Sphere Hunter, both of whom show their own gameplay footage, and neither of them have this bug. Avalanche Reviews brings up in his video that a friend of his has the animation bug despite the fact they're both running the game with the same settings on a 144hz display.

Both AR and SH are playing the game vanilla with no mods installed.
Strange because in Sphere Hunters first video doing free publicity I saw some instances of slight speed increases.

AydanWatkins: Folks you can fix this bug with a quick hex edit. We shouldn't HAVE to do this, but, for now it's an option until they patch it...
We can confirm that this is indeed a solution to this issue! We've confirmed it in the game code and prepared a hotfix for all 4 language versions of the game. We'll push it live as soon as we can.

Thank you AydanWatkins! You saved us a lot of time on this one. We'll contact you to give you a little something for your help :)

Have you figured out what's causing the severe frame rate drops with some AMD cards? I get like seconds per frame with mine.

How the hell do I put my dxdiag here?

You don't need to post that because i think that the same hot-fix will fix that aswell (but i'm not sure)

Also most players have the same problem

As FulVal mentioned, this fix should also help with the AMD frame rate drops. At least I think so, can't confirm with our technical magicians right now that are way smarter than me :P If it doesn't, we'll investigate further.
About that z-buffer problem, can you please contact AMD?

Well, here's hoping! I for one look forward to it!

We're double-checking the hotfix with Capcom. We'll push it live when we have the greenlight :)

Can you fix some AMD GPU not support?
avatar
bteg: The GOG team needs to update their wrapper to allow us to use 30hz for our resolutions so we can get a smoother experience by locking it to 30hz and vsync for 30 fps. Or let us adjust the vsync options to get 30 fps becuase 60 fps is sloppy.
avatar
GeminiREbirth: 60 fps is actually the intended speed, otherwise it breaks all menus that run at that pacing, not to mention door transitions. 30 fps is not a solution, the game already knows how to halve its speed depending on what it's executing.
Thanks for the update and your hard work!

Jokerlocco: If someone is not very technical, I will make the steps easier for them (as I have done).
1. Go to https://hexed.it/, and upload the ResidentEvil.exe file.
2. Search "8935FC454D00".
3. Replace what is marked with "909090909090".
4. Save the file on your computer with the same name, and replace the original .exe with this one.
5. Open the game from GOG.
Can you also apply the same HxD fix for the Japanese version (Biohazard.exe), please? It seems that the Japanese version has the different HxD coding from the English version (ResidentEvil.exe) in terms of speeding issues.
I wish some fan fixes would be implemented. Such as Audio fixes and overall the QoL fixes from Rebirth.

I know there's a mod to use assets from Director's Cut which only lacks script and proper implementation.

Edit: I just saw that a solution to the issue was found! Well, I guess I'll keep this here for documentation's sake.
