settin' up controls n resolution
1.
the RR collection's got three games:
· · · Redneck Rampage (RR)
· · · RR's sequel Redneck Rampage Rides Again - Arkansas (RA)
· · · RR's expansion Suckin' Grits on Route 66 (R66)
each game has its own individual configuration files, so for right now just pick one game and get the settings real nice n perfect and later we'll copy em to the other two.
2.
the controls/resolution are settings in the REDNECK.CFG file, which is edited using the SETUP program. that oughta be in yer start menu.
· · · click Start > All Programs > GOG.com > Redneck Rampage Collection > (RR, RA or R66) > Setup
█▓▒░ remember, you can press ALT+ENTER at any time during setup or ingame to change to WINDOWED MODE ░▒▓█
3.
· controller setup - here's what i recommend.
· · · controller type - make sure it's set to Keyboard and Mouse
· · · keyboard - customize the keys how you like, a WASD movement style is my choice
· · · mouse - change the right button function to Open so you can click open doors n such real quick like.
· · · although you can adjust mouse sensitivity here, it's probably easier to do it with the ingame options menu.
█▓▒░ remember that ingame the u key toggles vert mouselook (rat aimin') & the i key toggles crosshairs (wussy aimin' device) ░▒▓█
█▓▒░ for some reason the vert mouselook (rat aimin') setting isn't saved so you have to turn it on each time you play ░▒▓█
4.
· resolution - go to Screen Setup and pick a size. if yer game runs too slow, try turnin' this setting down a notch. here's some wisdom from HELPYALL.TXT:
When you set your screen size, be sure you are set to 640 x 480 or higher resolution -- we only included a 320 x 200 screen size for those who like to play with a smoother frame rate at the expense of having to look at the whole world through smeared, low-resolution beer goggles.

5.
· same settings for RR, RA, & R66? - so you think you got the perfect controls/resolution/etc set up and tested for one of the games? then you can copy those settings to the other two. correct me if i ain't right, but there ain't no harm in copyin and usin the same REDNECK.CFG file with yer own settings for all three of em.
for example · · · if you ran the Setup for Redneck Rampage and now the game plays all fine and dandy, yer probably wantin to go to C:/Program Files/GOG.com/Redneck Rampage Collection/Redneck Rampage and just find the REDNECK.CFG in that folder, copy it, and then go back and paste it in the Redneck Rampage 66 folder and say yes to overwrite. then paste it in the Redneck Rides Again folder and overwrite as well. now the whole RR collection should be set up with the same controls/resolution fer y'all.

Nice pawst ye did thar pal' !
Does anyone know how I can enable permanent mouse aiming? So I don't need to hold down 'U' to aim with the mouse. I've been looking all over the config but I haven't been able to get it to work.
setup > controller setup > setup mouse > mouse aiming is a toggle button
Yep.
Oddly my default was mouse aiming already a toggle button.
Anyway the mouse aiming is weird in this engine :O
For some reason nothing happens when I run the setup program, so I was hoping there would be a way to solve it by editing the config file for the game.

I haven't gotten the GOG version yet, I have the original. In the original you have to run SETMAIN.EXE, not SETUP.EXE for DOS. SETUP.EXE is for windows only. So I'm ASSUMING that in DOSBOX you would need to use SETMAIN.EXE. Can anyone check this out/verify it?
You are correct. It does appear that the GOG-shortcuts run a windows 16-bit executable (setup.exe) which is what causes it to not work on 64-bit operating systems. If I run setmain.exe through dosbox instead, everything works fine. Thank you! :)
GOG-guys, maybe you want to update the shortcut to point to setmain.exe instead? That should work out for users of any operating system.
Many people says they want mouse aiming, now I may be mistaken but by default I can use my mouse to turn 360 degrees, but I know that in the Duke Nukem series, they did allow you too look up/down, am I missing out on a whole plane of existence?

why's that? i think its pretty normal as long as:
· you press u when ingame to turn on "rat aimin'" so you can look up and down with the mouse (actually i think you might have to turn this on every time you start the game cuz it resets to OFF after you exit the game)
· "rat aimin' flip" turned on in the game options so up is up and down is down
· the sensitivity setting how you want it

yeah you have to press u ingame to turn on vertical mouselook (rat aimin') each time you play the game, ill edit n clarify that in the first post
When ever I push u in-game to turn rat aiming on, I still can't look up and down with mouse

hmm in Setup go to Controller Setup > Setup Advanced Control Options > Advanced Mouse Setup and make sure its like
Mouse X Axis ( analog_turning )
Mouse Y Axis ( analog_moving )
and then try it
That did the trick.
Thanks

Thanks

cool
i wonder why that wasn't set by default? that and this post make me wonder if the game doesn't install with the same REDNECK.CFG settings for everyone…?
