Hi i seem to be having a nightmare trying to get redneck rampage to work lan or any form of multiplay. I am running vista 32 and just need someone really kind who has got it to work to give me a walkthough of how to do it.

Hamachi is pretty cool, and I heartily recommend it. It'll cure what ails ya.

1. Have all players download Hamachi
2. Have one player set up the virtual network in Hamachi
3. Make all players join the virtual network set up by that one player in Hamachi
4. Have one player (it doesn't have to be the one who set up the virtual network) start the host shortcut under the gog.com start menu folder for Redneck Rampage.
5. The game will start up the setup program which may seem strange, have the player who started the host game go to Network Game, set up how many players will be playing (and anything else), and launch Redneck Rampage. He'll now be waiting for players to join.
6. Start up the CLIENT shortcut under the gog.com start menu folder and it'll ask you to type CONNECT followed by the IP. So let's say your friend in the Hamachi network has the IP 5.52.136.134. You'd have all players who want to connect to him type CONNECT 5.52.136.134 and hit enter.
7. From there they will also have the setup loaded which is the same as the host's, all they have to do is go to Network Game and Launch Redneck Rampage.
Note that I've only tested this for 2 people using the original Redneck Rampage with the cuss pack, if you have more than 2 there might be more needed to do in setup, however I am certain this works as my friend and I bought Redneck Rampage and tried it out on Friday night by doing this.

You can't just select overlay and click "save settings" to *always* use overlay?

nope wont work. no idea why i have to save it and select it every time

In this thread the author of the thread fixed the blank screen problem by running the game/shortcut in administrator mode. Have you tried that?

Have you try the recent DOSBox utility which is 0.72?
I have successfully set it up under my Vista Home Premium (32-bit) computer. Just remember to "Run it as the Administrator"...
Here's a rundown instructions below. If you have a video issue as well, please read on:
If the video stutters the game then you will have to edit the REDNECK configuration manually to edit the Screen Mode. If you haven't, exit the game and DOSBox. Goto "My Computer" and locate C:\REDNECK or C:\RIDES---most likely, it will apply for both games so remember to change both. Choose one and locate REDNECK (the extension CFG). Right-click and choose 'Open With' for Notepad.
Scroll down the list to edit the ScreenMode. Enter any number (0,2,3,4,5,6, or 7) other than 1.

Once the number has been entered, save it and exit. Try it again in DOSBox. Now hopefully, the game will play smoothly without the stuttering---the drawback, the video would be slightly 'blocky' since it would be much lower resolution.
For Internet Play:
Locate C:\DOSBox-0.72 under 'My Computer'. Right-click dosbox (the extension CONF) and choose 'Open With' for Notepad. Scroll down toward the end and change 'false' to 'true' here:

Save it and exit.
After opening the shortcut DOSBox 0.72, the host server will type "ipxnet startserver" (without quotes).
Then the client will open the shortcut DOSBox 0.72 and type "ipxnet connect <ip address>" (without quotes).
For additional details about the IPXNET fuction for DOSBox, read the README under the C:\DOSBox-0.72 directory.
Now mount for either game and type "setup" (without quotes) and press Enter.
Select Network Game
Change Player Name (if necessary)
Change Number of Players (up to 8 players!!)
And finally select Launch Redneck Rampage and you're off!!
