I have the same problem.
Please help.
if there is no ingame setting to do this try adding the following to the dosbox.conf in the [autoexec] part
mixer fm 50:50

I am having the same problem. I tried lowering the CD volume in my sound card mixer but it had no effect. Qbix could you go into detail on your proposed solution? I looked in the program directory and there are several dosbox.conf files for this package. I'm not sure what exactly I should be doing where.

Since Qbix isn't answering... Just open "dosboxRR.conf" for Redneck Rampage, "dosboxRA.conf" for Rides Again, and "dosbox66.conf" for Route 66.
Then add the line he said, right after [autoexec] :P
It works for me :)
missed this post.
Nico his explanation is correct.

Thanks for the help. This doesn't seem to work for me. After I added the line under the [autoexec] section, I could see it take effect during the game's startup, but during play the music volume is still at the same level as before. Are there any other tweaks I could try or am I out of luck?
Try editing dosboxRR_setup.conf ?
and/else toggle the mixer=true setting in dosbox.conf ([sblaster])

Qbix: and/else toggle the mixer=true setting in dosbox.conf ([sblaster])

Toggled mixer=true to mixer=false under [sblaster]. Also tried the same steps in dosboxRR_setup.conf followed by re-running the sound setup and starting the game from the setup program, but no dice. The music is still at the same level. I'm assuming the problem lies with a setting in my sound card (it's an X-Fi Gamer card, if that helps).
Oh well.
Regards Redneck Rampage, with the GOG version does the actual soundtrack with the songs actually play. I'm not talking the ambience music etc I mean the proper songs that always seemed to play far too loud in game and were great fun.
SO , do the SONGS actually play in the game on the GOG version of Redneck Rampage ?

ya
full RR and RA soundtracks
Yes music load and plays but damn this is great, couple seconds setting up in vista,
kicks but
every time i see this thread i want to give the smart ass answer.
"turn down your speakers!"
or
"did you try rebooting?"
can't decide which is better, but now at least it'll be out of my system.
Instead of
mixer fm 50:50
try adding
mixer cdaudio 50:50

I've add it in the [autoexec] tag after the imgmount line and before the c: line.
This works for me -> I'm using DOSBox 0.74
