I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a modern windows port available for this game. I know Build itself is open source and 3d Realms released the duke3d source code. I know there is a very good windows port of duke3d (which unfortunately lacks multiplayer), but i have never heard of redneck rampage being ported (which is a build game).
sadly there isn't
as far as i know
There's only a port for Duke 3D.
The other Build games... must be launched via DosBox or the NOLFB clip, VDMSound and all the crap. And it does not work better than DosBox. :)

Nope, not true.
Duke Nukem 3d has several ports, like and [url=http://www.rancidmeat.com/]Rancidmeat, but Shadow Warrior also has a JonoF port.
And by the way, there is multiplayer in combination with those ports. It's called Dukester X. It works brilliantly.

Aw I didn't know JonoF did a SW port. Great news, thanks!
It does makes you think: Why isn't there a Redneck Rampage port....

lack of a following of people interested in doing so. if I had any idea how to code or create realistic looking textures, I would have done so already.
I'd like to see a Duke Nukem Source mod..

There was a HL² mod in development.3D Realms asked it to be canceled.

Probably because the official source was never released. I have the same problem with strife. Even though it is based on 90% of the original doom src, there are enough differences to prevent the other ports from working, until one of the authors decided to guess as to the missing information. A couple of the other ports copied his work, but a couple others didn't because it wasn't a true representation of the original game.
http://www.eduke32.com/ is a much better duke port than JonoF's, in that it uses everything he did, has more enhancements, and is the ONLY actively updated Duke3D port around. There's also a HRP* http://hrpupdate.duke4.net/ which gives "true" 3D models/characters/items/bosses. Also http://www.proasm.com/ has a much better SW port and is also updated on a regular basis (also has a HRP*). Just in case anyone wanted the info.
*HRP = High Resolution Pack
Thats really cool. I didn't know eDuke supported opengl. Its been ages since i've checked and the only reason i did is becuase the build editor for JF duke is crap, I was hoping the Eduke's would be better, but it was nearly identical. I'll have to see if its been improved at all.

I did a port, but it's quite a bit out of date now and I never seem to get anywhere finishing an updated release. If you have trouble, I second the suggestion to try the SWP fork which is better maintained.

Still, I'm sure every fan of DN3D and SW are thankful for the work you did.
I agree back 4 or 5 years ago i used to wait in anticipation for new releases of JF duke.
