I'm trying to get multiplayer working with a friend, but when I start the shortcuts for "Start HOST game" and "Start CLIENT game", nothing appears to happen for either of us. I'm running Vista x64 and he's running Vista x86. Does anyone know how to make it work? We do have Hamachi, but we're not sure if it's needed.

You don't have some kind of message telling "type connect <ipadress> in order to connect to the host" ?

No, nothing like that. Absolutely nothing happens when we click the 'Start HOST/CLIENT game' shortcuts.

You are just getting a black screen? You should be seeing the same setup menu as the setup shortcut. Try right clicking on the shortcut and selecting run as administrator, it does take a while to load for some reason so it will be a black screen for awhile.

There's no black screen, there's just nothing. I guess it might have to do with the fact that setup.exe does not run at all on 64-bit operating systems, if that shortcut is using setup.exe as well. I guess MP won't work until GoG releases some kind of fix for that.

Yes, these shorcuts redirects to setup.exe :o
But it's weird because the setup.exe is launched via dosbox so it should not be a problem at all... Send the problem to the support :)

Did you try using SETMAIN.EXE? It's the setup that's supposed to be used in DOS (so I assume dosbox also). It works that way with the original disks in dosbox, which I have.

I'm running Vista 64 and can get it to come up.

Oh.. Then I don't know what the problem is. It simply won't run, not for me and not for my friend. And I can't just use setmain.exe instead because I don't know what parameters 'Start CLIENT/HOST Game' use to launch the executable, so it's not much help.

My best guess was something went wrong with the setup. But for two people? Weird. The shortcuts go to the dosbox in the Redneck Rampage gog.com folder and use the dosboxRR_client.conf / dosboxRR_server.conf files.
My client shortcut looks something like this.
"C:Program FilesGOG.comRedneck Rampage CollectionDOSBOXdosbox.exe" -conf dosboxRR_client.conf
... with slashes in-between folders. Strange... I type my slashes but they don't appear.
I was also thinking of uploading the configuration files but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do so. So check around and see what's what in your gog.com folders.
A friend and I were able to use the host and client shortcuts on Vista 32 while in a virtual network in Hamachi to get a game going. Basically after installing Hamachi I set up a virtual network, had my friend launch the host side and go to network game from the setup program, and then I just connecting to his IP using the network one and went to look for network games. We played a couple of rounds and had some laughs.

With the help of jecrell's post we finally got it working! My friend had to host the game, since the HOST shortcut only seems to work on 32-bit Vista while the CLIENT works just fine on both.
