I need some help. Redline (a game I've been dying to play btw) wont go past the opening logo videos.

It shows "Accolade" then "Beyond Games" and then finally the "Redline" logo video.

But as soon as the video ends the game crashes saying "Wheels has stopped working".

I have checked all the options in the "Display & Audio" settings.

I have changed the resolution.

I have run it in multiple compatibility modes.

I need help. (T_T)

This is what the crash says:

I did manage to get it to run!

I use a dual monitor display. One for games and the other for videos/music/game info.

I had to unplug the HDMI from my videocard that connected it to my TV and use only my DVI connection to my normal monitor and then it started and would play.

HOWEVER...
When I restarted my pc with the HDMI still unplugged and tried to start Redline, it went back to only playing the intro videos and then crashing.
When I then plugged my HDMI cord back into my video card, and tried to start Redline again, it started just fine and would play the game.

I'm guessing for some reason Redline won't choose my primary display device unless I unplug or plug in another monitor/TV. Then it is forced to pick the primary display and then it runs correctly.

Someone needs to look into this. Redline is an amazing game. And though it is a work around that lets me play it... it's a bit of an annoyance and wouldn't work for someone without a second display to plug in or unplug when ready to start "Redline".

Sounds like a graphics/display driver might be the issue here. It certainly doesn't affect all users (I only have one monitor, so have no second display I could connect to).

Would be helpful to be able to compare what graphics card, driver version and monitor displays you are using. Additionally, you are using HDMI. Out of interest, have you tried using another adapter (DisplayPort, DVI, VGA) just to see if that makes any difference - purely from a diagnosis point of view, I'm not suggesting you change from HDMI as a fix, but it would be interesting to know if that made any difference.
I have the same issue on two different Windows 7 machines, one with AMD and the other with nVidia. The game will start maybe 1 out of 10 times and it's perfectly fine if it actually reaches the menu. The success of it starting for me is completely random, I can make zero changes and just keep trying to start it and most of the time it'll work at least once.

Support just told me to try the standard troubleshooting tips I had already tried.

I haven't found a better solution than to just play it on my old WinXP box, which has zero trouble with it.

Remember you have a 30 day money-back guarantee.

Fair enough. :) I assumed you have messed around with nGlide's settings or Graphic Mode Setup? You could try asking for help on nGlide's forum - http://www.zeus-software.com/forum/.
I tried all the steps in the general FAQ on startup issues. Tried all resolutions, all kinds of mixtures of settings in advanced, etc.

The game ALWAYS quits to the desktop after FMV intro. The exe is still running (it's in the taskbar), but whenever I try to change to it, it sends me back to the desktop.

First game I'm going to have to ask for a refund for - unless GOG finds a solution, of course.

Setup:

Windows 7 x64 with all latest updates, fully updated nVidia drivers, Intel i7-920 2.8GHz CPU, nVidia Geforce 770 GTX, 6GB RAM.
I was having the exact same problem. The game was running fine on my older computer which had the exact same O/S (Windows 7), so I was wondering if the issue might be with the monitor. So I hooked my old monitor up to my new computer and Redline worked fine.

I did a few more tests, and as it turns out, the game was crashing after the FMV because I was using a DisplayPort connection on my new computer and monitor. I switched the cable out for a HDMI connection, and the game worked fine.

From what I've read there's a lot that can go wrong when trying to run Redline, so this probably won't help everyone who's having the same problem, but it worked for me and I suppose it's worth a shot if you're using DisplayPort instead of HDMI.

I'm using DisplayPort as well and considering that my monitor has no other ports I really couldn't try your solution. What worked for me was turning off G-Sync. A lot of older games crash when using G-Sync so I just turned it off and I can boot into the game and play just fine.

If you have a G-Sync capable monitor then give this a try.
