Hi I was experiencing slow frame rates on this game but I read you need to increase the performance using Setspeed.exe in the main directory. When I open this application I am getting an error "Red Baron 3d, File not found" setspeed then launches and I see a % slider that I can adjust, but when I click "Run the game" I get an error "I/O error 103."

So far I have tried to Launch this exe with admin rights and different compatibility modes. and reinstall with the program, which did not help.

Re download the installer and install again, which also did not help. Any help or suggestions is appreciated

My system is running 32 bit version of vista home premium.
Processor is Inter core2 duo @ 2.00ghz (2cpus)
4 gb of RAM
Nvidia geforce 8800Mgts 1776 MB of memory on graphics card

That error typically comes up when you've changed the directory of the RB3D folder relative from where you first installed it. The Setspeed app records the full path and thus can't handle changes.

I don't know windows very well, so I can't figure out how to change the path Setspeed points to which would be the best solution. The only solution I know how to do is reinstall and the first thing you do is change the speed before moving the folder anywhere.

If you have never moved the folder, then I'm flummoxed because that's when I encountered that error, but it is probably still a file path issue.

And it still doesn't work? Darn. I still think the problem is that it can't find the RB3D exe, but I don't know why or how to fix it if it still won't work.

have you tried contacting GOG support?
I have exactly the same problem.

Did you move the RB3D folder at any point after install? What is the operating system and specs of the computer that are you using?
No I just did the default install to "C:\GOG Games\Red Baron Pack\Red Baron 3D" and never moved anything. The Problem was there directly after the first ever install.

I am using Windows 7 64bit on an Intel i7 2600k with 8 GB DDR3 RAM and Nvidia GTX 560TI GPU.

Sure, but they didn't answer me until now.

It can take them a bit of time. If they don't respond within a couple of business days, send them another support message or find a GOG staff member on the forum and PM them (blue poster).

When they do respond, let me know what they say, I am curious.

They answered me. The game simply does not support Windows 7. Only chance to get it working would be Windows XP or Vista. So 10€ wasted for me.

That's weird ... I got the game working on Windows 7 (32-bit), lots of others on Win 7 64-bit too ... and why would the game work on 8 and not 7? I'm pretty sure the game card for the RB history pack even used to say Win 7 officially supported (it doesn't anymore).

Hmmm ... I wonder if Win 7 SP1 screwed something up?

Have you tried running Setspeed in XP compatibility mode?
