Hello. My game crashes right after the opening cinematic. I get "Red Baron II singleplayer has stopped working" error messege.
Running Vista 32bit.
Tried the compatibility and Run as Admin fixes without success.
Any thoughts?

sl71: Thanks but I must be missing something I am running VISTA as well. Where do I type in this info? I go to the shortcut and click on properties. There are two places to type the above info Under "target" and "start in". Am I looking in the wrong spot? please be detailed like..." click here, go to properties, click this tab" and so forth

Wailwulf: You want to add the " -window" in the Target Window.

The Target window includes the exe file you are starting.

The Start window does not include exe file, just the folder the game is in.

So on your short cut to RB3D, right click with the mouse and select properties.
In the Target window you will find something like this (depends on where you installed the game): "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Red Baron Pack\Red Baron 3D\Baron.exe"

Add the ' - window' to the end of that line. Do not for get the space before the '-'. Should now read like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Red Baron Pack\Red Baron 3D\Baron.exe" -window

For me, I ran the program, changed the setting to Glide (You can do so if you have a Glide Wrapper for your Vista machine). I then went back to the properties of the shortcut and removed ' -window' from the target window. The game now runs great and I can fly in Glide, but all the menus are in widowed mode which can make it hard to read since the menu is 640x480 and my monitor is set for 1280x1024 resolution.

Now, if the game runs fine in Glide mode, but you have the same problems after removing '-window', what you will have to do is add ' -window' back to the target window in properties of the short cut and everytime you play, will need to go to the preferences and set the game for Glide mode, or you will be flying in windows mode.
Ok so that got me into the actual menu, but now said menu won't respond to my mouse clicks?! Doesn't make sense to me, as it recognised them during the introduction, as clicking skipped it. HELP! haha

If I remember right, the batch file solved this problem for the only other person I remember having this problem.

Open up Notepad and write:

for single player:
taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
start /w Baron.exe
pause
start explorer.exe

for multiplayer:
taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
start /w baronmmp.exe
pause
start explorer.exe

Save the file in the game folder itself (where Red Baron 3D is located)

But save the file as a batchfile. To do this, change the txt to bat so your file is named something like this: RB3dSP.bat (batch) instead of RB3dSP.txt (text) If you accidently saved it as a text file, you can just rename the text file and change the "txt" to "bat" instead..

Then click on the batch file you just created to play the game.

This will shut down Explorer of the Windows operating system which seems to cause a number of problems with older programs.. When you exit the game you will be able to restart Explorer.

I installed the game and followed all the fix's for corrupt downloads to no avail. When i stard RB3d the radio buttons to select a stereo do not work. It's as if they are not linked to anything. Anyone have a fix?

I am running 32bit Vista with UAC turned off. I tried changing the shortcut target values to ["C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Red Baron Pack\Red Baron3D\Baron.exe" -window] and Vista came up with the "file was not valid" When I initially started the program from the shortcut placed on my desktop Vista came up with "Red Baron II single player has stopped working. Any suggestions out there? I have a gateway MX 8711 with all the hardware necessary.

Did you add that entire line in to the shortcut's target, or did you change it by just adding " -window" to the target?

If the shortcut was valid to begin with, the adding of a command at the end should not make it invalid. I have done it where I wrote "-windows" with an "s: and the short cut worked, just never got it to work in window mode that way. When I have gotten something akin to file or file path not valid is when the location to the program is wrong due to a typo, and accidental deletion of a character or wrong drive listed.

I removed the existing target value and pasted the new value from this forum.The shortcut value may not have been accurate to begin with as the sim would not load. An error message of RED BARON II Single Player has stopped working always came up.I will try adding the "s" to window and see what happens. Thanks for your assistance! The targets we are giving you are EXAMPLES. Take the target in the shortcut window and add -window to the end with a space before the - Example: If you loaded the game into C:\GOG\RedBaron3d and you create a shortcut to Baron.exe, the short cut's target will be: C:\GOG\RedBaron3d\Baron.exe just add the -window so the target reads: C:\GOG\RedBaron3d\Baron.exe -window Now if RB3d is installed on another drive and folder, like: F:\MyGame\WWISims\RedBaron3d\Baron.exe then you need to add -window to the shortcut's target so it reads: F:\MyGame\WWISims\RedBaron3d\Baron.exe -window

How does it not work?

What happens after you start the game? Does it even start? Does it play the intro movie and then crash? Do the menus look unreadable? Or can you click on the menus, but when starting the game, it crashes? It helps to know how it doesn't work for us to help you.

I have tried the -window fix posted on here without success. My current target is "C:\GOG Games\Red Baron Pack\Red Baron 3D\GOGLauncher.exe" GOGRED3. With or without the -window fix it crashes after the opening plane sequence where the Red Baron gets shot down. I only get this far if I run it with XP compatability. If I just run straight Vista I don't even get to watch the plane sequence. Please help. Any help would be much appreciated for this computer novice. Thanks in advance!
