CarSpy: On my first mission of patrolling I got shot by german planes and my plane started to stall so I made a emergency landing after landing and ended the mission I noticed I was put in prison I thought "well this must be game over" but then I notice the months going past until I escaped,,,,that was awesome why don't many sim type games do this O_O
Wailwulf: Because in real life most prisoners do not successfully escape. As is, except for one French pilot, no other pilot in WWI did escape to fly again.
Actually a couple of others on both sides besides Roland Garros did escape though none as famous and I am unsure if they flew again. In most of those other cases, I think they hadn't been quite sent to prison, but they did get captured.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Udet This has a small, amusing story about an English flyer who escaped, but it isn't cited, so take it with a large grain of salt. :)
One night they invited a captured English flyer for dinner, treating him as a guest. When he excused himself for the 'W.C.' the Germans fell over themselves trying to hide from him that they were watching to see if he would try to escape. On his return the Englishman said, "I would never forgive myself for disappointing such hosts." However, the English flyer did escape later from another unit.
However, I would agree that it was a very rare event in real life which is not reflective of your chances in the game. That said, I also agree that the captured/wounded scenarios added a nice touch to the dynamic campaign simulator.
