These are just some questions I had on the outset that I managed to find answers for on the internet.
Q. Is there mod support in Rebel Galaxy?
A. There is no official mod support, or modding tools. However, the game developers have expressed no desire to suppress mods, only that they do not plan to officially support them. So, this will depend heavily on the enthusiasm and longevity of the game's popularity and the ingenuity of its fans.
Q. Does the game take place in a new open world each game (ie. randomly or procedurally generated each playthrough)?
A. There are 13 or 14 randomly generated star systems in each new game. (http://steamcommunity.com/app/290300/discussions/0/483367798521468808/#c483367798521576823)
Q. Is there a cockpit or bridge simulated in this game?
A. No, all the flight control and action occurs from outside the ship.
Q. How is the game controlled? Can I use a joystick?
A. The game is developed with a bias toward ease of use with game controllers (specifically PS4), and this is the recommended way to play. However the game is also developed to use mouse and keyboard controls, which work about as well (my opinion). A joystick would probably work, but would not be more useful than a M+KB (again my opinion).
Q. What's the style of combat?
A. The combat style is "naval," with broadside combat between large vehicles, and skirmishes with smaller fighters (you only pilot the larger vessels). It takes place on a plane, as if on an ocean in space. It is not intended to be a flight simulator.
Q. Can I put together a flotilla of ships in this game?
A. No, you're mostly going to be piloting your own vessel from place to place. You can hire one mercenary to follow you around in a smaller ship, though!
Q. Do I have to follow the story?
A. Nope! Go on and do your own thing.
Q. Um, the guitar slide music with white boys singing the blues is not my thing.
A. The launcher lets you assign multiple directories for alternative music to play, based on the game state (ie. combat, idle, ambient).
Q. Where is the official forum?
A. On Steam, unfortunately: http://steamcommunity.com/app/290300/discussions/#
