Dunno... am I missing something here? I just started to play this game.. I go to where the first mission (picking up the whiskey) is supposed to be and there's a yellow marker, but NOTHING there. Seriously, I fly right up within 0 sm (space meters?) of the mark and there's no ship nothing. Should I have at least gotten a conversation screen with a Captain where I tell him I'm the guy the alien dude sent?

Tried hailing them, but that option isn't active.. is this a bug or am I not doing something right?

Anyway, thanks for the help!

Do a scan to find interesting targets nearby (the ship you want to find, in this case)! Then fly to that ship and have a chat with its captain.

You don't need a tractor for mid-space exchanges, like the initial mission.

Memory serves me right, the first mission you need to destroy a cargo crate. No tractor beam required. So just manually aim your weapons and shoot it to hell. You'll get a tractor beam (basic one) probably immediately after.

Memory wrong, destroy crates is the second mission from Orzu. buy whiskey from another ship is the first. Themken gave the correct answer. And no tractor beam required.
