Anyone else getting this error or is it just me?
The game seemed to default to Adlib for both music and sound effects. But until I switched the game to use Sound Blaster instead I'd get the Missing Hardware error everytime I started it, and only have music (no digital effects).
Which one of the two games are you referring to?
As far as I've seen, RoA 1 is configured to use Adlib music and the sound is configured wrong. RoA 2 will use Sound Blaster and General Midi music.
If you want to change the sound setup, you'll have to run sound.bat from either of the game directories. If you want to make it easy and do that when you next start the game with the shortcut, navigate to the game directory in your explorer, find the dosboxrealms(something).conf, open it with an editor, scroll all the way down (to the [autoexec] section), and put the line "sound" just before the line "intro" or "star" (depending on the game). You'll be prompted to change sound setting on the next launch.
Remember to delete that line once you've found the desired setting! Default Sound blaster settings are A220, IRQ5 and DMA1, by the way.
Sorry, yeah it was RoA 1 which seemed to have bogus settings.
I've managed to fix it now though I find it odd it came pre-configured without full sound??
