Hello again. Jeez, really bumping my post count today. Anyway:
The RoA 2 intro doesn't play at all. After launch and playing the first few notes of the intro music, it skips to the difficulty selection for starting a new game.
Also, it seems like the default sound config doesn't play well with the DOSBOX settings given in the .conf file. Care to look into that, gog.com team? :)

Well the intro skipping could relate to the fact that the imgmount line we have in the dosboxrealms2.conf doesn't work. I tried mounting that inst and gog file, but can't do it manually either
Yes, I suspect the same. Something there isn't quite right.
Turns out that image is just the 2nd Disk of Star Trail with the CD Audio.. so it shouldn't effect the game. Oh well, let's see if GoG can come up with something :)
Also missing from this version is the voice acting in the early cutscene dialogues.

not missing, but the audio options are configured wrongly, if you add sound.bat into the dosrealms2.conf and reconfigure the sound effects to Sound Blaster, you get the voice
I hope they'll be fixing these problems soon.

Ah. Didn't see any mentioning of the voice acting above so I assumed it was a separate problem. Seems a bit odd; sound card & DOSBox configuration isn't exactly rocket science so it's a bit puzzling that GOG didn't get it right...

Sadly this doesn't solve the intro problem, but at least we have speech.
I started a party just to see how game feels, now I want to start a new game and don't have a clue how to go about that. In "disc" i've tried every button w/o sucess. Game always starts me with old party in middle of nowhere nearly dead. Any Ideas?

How would I go about doing this? I'm terrible with setting up Dosbox so any help regarding what, exactly, to type in here would be extremely welcome. :)

There's a dosrealms2.conf in the game directory, you have to edit that, and put "sound" in front of "star" in the autoexec part, which is located at the very end of the config file. the next time you run the link, it will delete the sound config, and upon starting "star" it will show you the sound configuration for RoA2. You should select Roland Midi for music, and Soundblaster or Soundblaster Pro for sound. The speech should work now. And after that, remove the sound line from the config.
Check the new sticky, ya'll...
Nice, thanks gog. It mentioned sound problems in the first game though, what sound problems?

"Sound Hardware Not Found" thread perhaps?
