I'm running Windows 7 and every time I load up RoA1, if I press any key, it will cycle endlessly between the title screen, the into cinematic and the credits. I sat through (what I assume was) the majority of the intro, but was running out of time and attempted to skip the rest, at which point I entered this endless cycle. Restarting the game did not help.

EDIT: Blah, tried again, and hitting ESC on the title sequence seemed to work.

Couldn't figure this out either, until I read your post... so, thanks, I guess...

Hi,

have you tried to run the game 'on foot' through a separate DOSBox installation? That often solves things.

start a normal DOSBox version, go to the Arkania 1 directory and then start it through the normal bat file - or try the two exe files...

good luck

I hardly ever use the pre-configured but but instead use my regular DOSBox version...

One thing that is important under Win7 (probably also Vista) and later is not install stuff under 'programmes' - treat Win as if it were Dos and install your stuff accordingly - then it should not be necessary to fiddle around with Win's rights management.

I've found that Windows 7 doesn't really seem to like the Arkania games. Try right-clicking on the GoG folder in Program Files, select properties and security and edit permissions so that all users have full access.

Solved the problems for me.
I always got around this problem by mashing the left and right mouse button manically as soon as the music started.
