Is there any word on if this will head to gog? I just saw it on steam and got pretty excited to see it's being released later this month but would prefer to buy it here than on steam if possible.

The current word seems to be that it will indeed show up here.
I've heard the same. I'm excited about this release. It might be one of the first hyper-realistic modern RPGs if they keep all the rules from the old game.
Ditto. I'd prefer to buy it here too.
That's good to hear, hopefully this does well and they remake the other two in the series.
Basically, yes. There'll be a GOG version, probably upon release, though Steam seems to have the monopoly on preorders right now...:-P

From the official forums:

For those who do not read German:

Blade of Destiny will be released on various online platforms like Steam, GamersGate, gamma, and many more, including on GOG.com, so one gets there alone under the regulations, a DRM-free version. Online compulsion is not guaranteed, even in the Steam version does not, of course, but patches and updates are distributed via the Internet, so an occasional "online stopping by" is recommended :) .
Well, it's a bit frustrating that there is no "Coming Soon" announcement on this from GOG, since I can save a few bucks pre-ordering from Steam, but I can wait one more day & risk $4 on being able to get it from my preferred GOG dealer instead of steam.
Well, it's out on Steam now, I want to get it, so it'd be nice to know how long we have to wait.

If some of the recent discussion on this thread is any indication, the game release has some issues and may very well need some serious patching. Not sure if GoG is going to jump on the roller coaster right away...

Has anyone here bought it yet? I'd like to know how it is- beyond the bugs. I am very excited about the release.
GoG has all three Realms of Arkania games up for sale for that reason I believe GoG is the home to this series and thus should of been released here first, kind of sad publishers only have cash as eyelids.

That's a very naive and selfish statement. See it this way: In case of the necessary patching, the last ones will be the first.
So suck it up and shorten the wait with another game. It will come eventually.
The only real important aspect I hope for is that the other two parts will be published eventually as well. Let's cross fingers.

I couldn't get into Blade of Destiny for the same reason I couldn't get into Daggerfall -- the towns were universally awful and half of the skills didn't do anything.

Apparently the remake is identical in that regard.
From what I've read thus far at least a portion of the non-useful skills were removed or combined. Can't comment on the towns, though.
