CptPicardi: I doubt Ubisoft would want one of their newer games to be DRM-free now. Even though GOG has newer games now, it'll still mostly be indie games. The Steam version is great, though. It doesn't use Ubi's horrid DRM, but it doesn't have achievements like the console versions.
JamesGecko: Retail versions of Rayman Origins are
already DRM free.
And I can confirm that having just about completed the PC version now. Unlike From Dust which was supposed to be without any DRM but turned out it just wasn't any of the traditional DRM solutions, this one genuinely doesn't seem to carry DRM from the disc.
Installed the game on laptop from DVD drive, took out the DVD, ran the game. No CD-key or activation or requirering the disc to be in drive during play or anything. Only thing is an auto-updater checking if there are updates available if you have an internet connection and asking nicely before doing anything.
Consider me impressed.
And a game being on steam hasn't stopped gog before. Psychonauts and Legend of Grimrock being two examples off the top of my head. More likely the price point which might be tricky. I know they have a new pricing structure so they can go beyond their traditional $6 and $10, but I have no clue what Ubi would like it to be sold at. Just know I held off buying it because I didn't believe their "no drm" claim. Then stumbled across it in a bargain bin at ~$18 and decided to get it and live with any DRM since I hadn't heard any huge outcry.
