Rayman 2 originally supported joysticks and gamepads, but it has a bug that makes it fail to detect input devices other than the keyboard on newer versions of Windows.

This project works around the bug.

If you need help or you find a bug, either post here or open an Issue on my Google Code page.
Tried it myself and it works very well so far, my only issue is that the default control configuration for my gamepad is very strange. Too bad there isn't a way to change the controls...

Thanks for testing. What gamepad do you use?

I use an XBox 360 gamepad and the button layout is pretty decent.

I use this usb connector that allows me to plug in a standard PS2 controller.
This is great Nosedog! It's working for me with a wireless 360 controller. Finally proper proportional analog control restored.

Though I kind of hate the game's layout . Even for a game it's age I can't believe they provide no way to remap controls :(

Do you know if it's possible to use something like XPadder along side the game's native gamepad support, so that we can keep the proper analog control, but have a different button layouts? I'm just worried that if I map a button to a keyboard key using an external program, I'm going to get that in addition to (and not instead of) whatever that button does with the game's native gamepad support.

PS for everyone else, here's what I've found the game maps to on a 360 controller:

A - punch (and select in menus, advance dialog)
B - jump
X - rotate camera left
Y - rotate camera right
LB or RT - recenter/lock-on camera (hold)
RB - show status

As far as I can tell, there's no gamepad support for bringing up the menu (Esc) or to call the helper thing (F1).

Great work, Nosedog. I have a big, fat grin in my face! It works perfectly for my Logitech Rumblepad 2.
Thank you!!
Would this bugfix work for an N64 controller at all? I have a cheap USB hookup that allows me to use N64 and PSX gamepads on my PC. I normally use it for emulation but would this work with your bugfix?

PS: My n64 controller has a broken Joystick so I guess it wouldn't work at all, unless it were to map movement to the D-Pad.

I actually sent support a ticket asking about the controls for Rayman 2 because I REALLY want to buy it since it's on sale right now, but only if I can get some decent controls for it. I used to own a retail copy of it for PC and the keyboard layout was so bad that I couldn't play it.

Thank you it works with my Logitech Wingman.
I am using a wireless 360 controller.
I do confirm the function of your patch for r2.
I can't for r3. R3_Setup_DX8, does not recognize my inputs, it did beforehand. I cannot use the analog sticks nor the digital pad to navigate through the menu.

Thank you very much for your fixes!

Hi,

I am using an Xbox One controller. There is a bug where Rayman shoots immediately after jumping. This happens every time I press the B button. The B button executes the actions as if I was pressing B + A very quickly. The joysticks work nicely though...

I also have Xbox One controller (Windows 10), I don't have this issue.

Thats strange. I'm also using Windows 10 and I've tried reinstalling the game and input file. I placed the file in the following path: C:\GOG Games\Rayman 2 . I would like to confirm that this is the correct path because there is also a DLL folder and Data folder in the Rayman 2 installation directory.

Thanks

That is the correct path, "dinput.dll" was there for my entire playthrough.

readme.txt

How to use:

Copy and paste the included dinput.dll to the Rayman 2 installation directory.

I've run into a problem where when I put the file into the correct path the game crashes on the load screen.
