Good night.

I recently bought Rayman 2, downloaded and installed it without problem. When I went to finally play it, it crashes before anything shows up.

I'm running a GTX460 SE 1GB with the latest driver (320.49) and no, I won't roll back a driver just for a single game to work. I've been told GoG is the bastion of old games, where any game I purchase will, at least, work. I expect a fix for this, as I'm lead to believe this issue is around since April.

I hope this get's fixed as well as I recently purchased this game to. I've had bad experiences with using outdated drivers so I'm hoping it get's fixed soon. They can't sell the game like this for too long without a fix.

System requirements:
Compatibility notice: Rayman 2: The Great Escape does not support Nvidia 7XX series of cards and requires version 310.70 or older drivers.

No, as I always try to contact the forum first to see if someone has a easy and quick fix. If none, then I go to the Support. And I think I'm really fine on your compatibiity notice: I'm using a 4xx and the latest driver (see the "older"?).

But thanks anyway, I'm contacting support and I'll post some news on the matter soon.

It's not my compatibiity notice. I do see "older", but you are using "newer". That may be outdated at this point, but support will know better than me.

Do you think it's possible though that the game will be updated to work on newer drivers and newer cards? I mean GOG was made to keep older games alive after all.

I wasn't asking about the solution. I was asking if the games would be updated to work on newer drivers so we won't have to downgrade.

I have no idea, GOG will know the answer but will likely remain tight lipped on that. It's probably a bug introduced by nVidia themselves anyway considering the large number of games that don't work on the newest drivers.

Yea. I'm sure though that GOG will either update the game because I've seen some of my other games having updates (Tomb Raider 1+2+3 is one of them). I'm just worried that I won't be able to play Rayman 2 in the future unless they release and HD version of it like they have with Baldur's Gate, Age of Empires 2, Stronghold etc

Do you know which ones, for example? Also on GOG? Is there some kind of list of them so that I don't keep banging my head to the wall with known cases?

(Yes I have this problem with Rayman 2 too now, fortunately I also have two AMD graphics PCs too, just due to these kind of manufacturer specific problems...)

Sadly not, but I do know a few video editing programs are buggy with the latest drivers.

Here's how I fixed my Rayman 2 Issues:

1. Install nGlide (Google it.)

2. After you have installed that, go to your Rayman 2 directory. In the DLL folder there is a folder labeled Glide. The file that is contained in that folder (GliVd1vf.dll) needs to be copied to the DLL folder. I recommend copy and paste so you don't accidentally lose the file.

3. Next, run the GXSetup.exe file in the main folder and select the Glide driver (0 Glide2 (1.0.0) Voodo Graphics Glide 2 Driver) from the Renderer drop down box. Don't forget to set your resolution before clicking ok.

4. Finally, you are set to run Rayman 2!

I haven't had any problems with it since doing this. It alleviates the hassle of rolling back your drivers every time you want to play this game. I hope this helps.
