Hey. Thanks a lot for that file. It works, somehow. The default "calibration pad" controls however are almost as weird as the keyboard ones, with no way to change them ingame. You use the Y and X buttons to turn the camera for example, instead of the right analog stick. So i used a program called antimicro which lets you emulate keyboard keys with your gamepad, and while i can't vouch for it yet so far it has worked flawlessly and made the game feel surprisingly fresh.
You can make different profiles for different games, and there are plenty of old pc games with no controler support here on GOG that can benefit greatly from it ( looking at you Beyond Good and Evil ). With that in mind, i'd strongly recommend using that or a similar app and playing the game with a controller, it is much more enjoyable that way.
I can upload my profile for this game if anyone wants it, though it's fairly easy to customize one.
