can you give me some details to what it does?

I'm currently playing rayman 2 with my gamepad linked to my keyboard through joy2key. Will this thing help improve something for me?

Well, Rayman 2 was not detecting my USB controller. when I put the linked file into my rayman 2 directory, the game started to detect it. so if you have problems using a USB controller, this should be able to help.

You will get true analog control with Rayman 2, which makes the game control much better.

a 360 controller works by default. will this allow me to remap the controls? The controls with a 360 controller are ok, but could be better.

I have the same problem, B button jumps, A shoots. It's somewhat uncomfortable, but I haven't been able to find a solution yet.

unfortunately rayman 2 offers no way to change controls for keyboard or gamepad its fixed mapping and nought can be done.
