Does anyone know why there is no Raiden II in this collection? Are there legal issues?

Raiden II (1993) was based on the same arcade hardware of the original Raiden (NEC V30). And it was also released on PC in 1997!

/e: Ok, I found out:

Raiden Legacy [...] is to include the original shoot ‘em up “Raiden” as well as three others (Raiden Fighter, Raiden Fighter II, and Raiden Fighter Jet) in the series. Will the other titles (Raiden 2, Raiden DX, ….) be available upon the initial release?

R.T. : That is currently under consideration, but there’s some technical issues on bringing back Raiden 2 and DX. We’re currently trying to resolve with help of Success and Seibu Kaihatsu.

Raiden 2/DX will never happen, not arcade ports anyway, not even seibu kaihatsu can break the encryption on the raiden 2 sprites, and given that most of the people that worked on those games no longer work for seibu, I think ya better off getting the psx versions or the poor mans pc version of raiden 2 which was a terrible port of the psx collection
Good to know, thx for your answer! But to be sure: There is really no chance? Are there available MAME versions that work?

No, in fact these are all MAME roms being emulated via a fancy MAME package.

well mame almost has raiden 2 playable, its certainly not perfect by any means and the biggest issue with the mame version is the sprites for enemy and player fire isn't visible, making the game impossible to play, and given that's its taken over 10 years to get it to that state I wouldn't expect it playable any time soon, wish it was though, oh wait, no I don't because I already own the arcade board (salt in the wound)
DotEmu itself states in an interview that technical problems prevent them to release Raiden II. Everyone guesses it is the hardware copy protection. You can find details about it in the mame dev wiki under "Game not working". However, it seems that a release of Raiden II is still possible.

anything is possible, Just don't go holding ya breath for raiden 2 to be released any time soon
I asked DotEmu via mail: "I know there are technical issues but is there even the slightest possibility of a release of Raiden II and Raiden DX for PC in the future?" And I got as answer: "Thank you for your suggestion. We care a lot about your feedback and will evaluate if it can be part of an update."

That sounds quite promissing to me.

This really gets me. If it really was a MAME rip happening in the background, then why the (*&#@$#$ do we not have a 'save state' option like emulators give. As it stands these game have no persistent score boards and that means this entire package is a gigantic waste of time and money. STFU to the developers who gutted these games.

This is FALSE, Like Irem Arcade Hits on Dot Emu, they are using a proprietary emulation engine. They are using a Flash Based / Open GL solution in this particular compilation. But on my Intel 945G integrated Graphics, this game won't even run on my laptop or my friends with the same graphics chip. Game complains it need Open GL 1.5 minimum when that card only has 1.4

In reply to the person who said Raiden 2 was released on PC, Yes it was but it was a port of Raiden DX only having the Raiden II in the package based on the PS1 version of the game. That's why it was easy to port over. It was a port of a port so to speak.
Just as an advisory, the PC version of Raiden 2 *does* work on Windows 7. You just need to run Raidenii.exe directly from the disc, not the autorun menu.

It seems to be quite a challenge, but if they can do it, knowing GOG, they will update the package you already bought to include the two additional games. That would be nice, and while improbable, stranger things have happened.
I cant believe i'm going to say this, but raiden 2/DX is finally playable in mame (for those who don't already own a port or actual hardware) then there is hope we might get it on pc at some stage
