I thought that I figured this out but the puzzle does not solve. I looked at the "official" walk through and see that I had come up with the correct solution. Why won't the game accept it? I do see that the runes seem to have some registration problems to the marks for the answer row. Has anyone else had similar problems? How did you get past it?

Thanks!

It could be a bug, but check this clip, maybe there's something different in the way you're arranging them.

Sometimes the engine gets weird about accepting the pieces in the right slots. Were you able to figure it out and get passed?

Ultimately yes. I had skipped the rubbing and just figured it out from the book in the library. Once I had done the rubbing the same solution worked.

Thanks for the replies!

Even after you solve the Rune puzzle properly, you'll be in an odd situation reminiscent of Gabriel Knight, where you'll have to disguise yourself and answer some questions correctly or you'll die. Except unlike GK, the answers to the questions in this game are not obvious and they vary each time you do it so you'll really have to read the book on the Morroi in the library.

An alternate, and IMO better solution, is to go through the swamp. Get some rubbing alcohol from Udo and a flint from the general store to torch the cube and sneak in that way. That solution is easier, as you won't need to go to the library for that.
