Im playing qfg 1 and i noticed it is very glitched, i cant see my stats sometimes endless goblins.
What version are you playing and what glitches are you experiencing? there is a specific square of forrest where you can encounter endless goblins. The only known bug involving the stat screen is overencumbering yourself with fairy mushrooms.
Okay here's how to find your Stats in the EGA/SCI0 version this is found in the status bar by either moving the mouse up to the status bar or by holding control+s in the VGA version again on the status bar/icon bar click the sun looking circle icon, it's next to the Magic icon on the icon bar. there you should see options for Rest(picture of hero sleeping), time(hour glass), toggle Stealth mode( hero looking sneaky), toggle Run/Walk(hero running/walking) and stats which is a icon of your hero click that one and you will see your stats.

As for the goblins as someone already mentioned this is not a glitch, there is a area in part 1 called the "Goblin Camp" which contently spawns goblins for combat practice or stat grinding.
thanks for replying,oh i play the vga version of the game the numbers are all over the place.

I posted about this elsewhere, but this is a common glitch that occurs when you pick/use mushrooms from the fairy circle. Don't touch the 'shrooms!

I've never heard of this, but there are multiple (though not endless) goblins if you're in the goblin hideout. It will show you fighting one with two in the background, but really there can be up to eight. The number of goblins goes up by one every time you fight in the hideout and maxes at eight.

Incidently a great place to work on your combat skills at any class.
However, you will ultimately have to pick up the shrooms for one of the side quest solutions (points), and to get the dispel potion... Just wait until you are stronger (so that they won't over burden you).

The Mushrooms are not required for the dispel potion, only fairy dust.
Here are the poitn totals for the Mushroom side quest.
Get mushrooms = 3 points.

Sell mushrooms to Healer = 1 point.

The thing is I don't remember ever having encountered the glitched mushroom bug.... I think its because I probably collect the mushrooms later in the game.

According to some comments on various message boards/websites, its not the fact you pick up mushrooms that glitches the game, but the amount of mushrooms you pick up. Some sites say to not pick up anymore than 75 mushrooms. If you pick up too many it can cause other really strange glitches apparently. Someone says a bunch of random messages will start popping up or something.

This topic has a better explanation of what causes the garbled text though;

"I just found out what caused it. It is a bug in the game, but not caused by the long name.
It happens, when you're encumbered (carrying too much weight) and save you're game while encumbered. When you restore any game after that (except savegames before you became encumbered), you hit the bug.
Well, irritating, but at least it's solved now."

So basically what this means if you collect the mushrooms, or know you will be encumbered by anything else, go sell the stuff off or get rid of it, or up your stats, before saving.

Ok, I tested things out...

Basically if you go straight to the mushroom ring from the beginning of the game. Each mushroom is only about .1 pounds. It takes approximately 60 mushrooms before you become over burdened. I only picked up the suggested 75 mushrooms to avoid any other weird mushroom glitches.

Then I went straight to appleberry and sold them all off. Yes you can get paid, this is cheating. You will have about 30 gold after all that!

So anyways then I saved. Then I reloaded that safe. There is no bugged menu. Everything appears fine.

So its not picking up mushrooms that causes the glitch. It's just having too many, being overburdened, and saving and restoring while you are overburdened.

Edit: More testing, I checked to see what would happen if I picked up more than 75 mushrooms. This time I got 200 mushrooms (this should net you about 65 gold), and went straight to sell them to the Healer. Then saved, then reloaded. No stat screen glitches at all.

Now you can buy the armor at this point, but its probably not recommend as it will overburden you this early point in the game. My next test was to check this out, and see if it would have any adverse effect ont he stat screen. I didn't see anything.

So perhaps the glitch is a combination of being overburdened, and specifically overburdened with too many mushrooms. If you sell of the mushrooms before you save and restore, there should be no problems at all. At least I didn't see any.

Thanks for doing this! I've always wondered what was at the heart of this bug. Saving while being overburdened by mushrooms. Glad to know.
But i havent had any mushrooms yet it happen when fighting tons of goblins and my eapon skill got too 76 that number is left on the screen and im using magic points for some reason.
And i get overburdenen because my gold.

Ya, I think it would be safe bet to avoid saving and restoring after becoming overburdened. Try to avoid becoming overburden if at all possible. If you do become overburdened buy stuff to get rid of the money, or drop items.

That seems to be the biggest factor in the bug, being overburdened and saving and restoring. It may be with certain items that you can hold in large amounts. Like money, and mushrooms.
