I always wanted to play quest for glory game when i was a kid thanks gog for giving me a chance to play this wonderful franchise but im still new has anyone some advice for me? I noticed in battle stam is my wordt enemy that i easely die of tirement. And I noticed that some areas you need to climb does thast mean im useless as a fighter or is it possible to lvl up your climbing?

Any skill that isn't 0 can be trained up to the game's max (100 x game's number), and almost all places have more than 1 solution. As for the stamina, yes, stamina will deplete rather easily, at least until you train it. Every day clean the stables (you seem to be the only one to do so) and practice with the weapon master, then sleep one hour or so and continue exploring.
Also, don't be afraid to experiment, it's always fun :) Make sure you have more than 1 save as well though, never know when you'll need it (though it's not that often).

Once you're done with the first game, I highly recommend playing the remake of 2 instead of the original. The remake is excellent.

Any tips for a newbie thief character? actually has some good stuff in it for everyone, though thieves are of course the focus of that thread.

(Minor Spoiler Alert) Helpful Advice has some pretty big spoilers at this point, IMO, but if you don't mind there's certainly some good advice there.

Yeah, Stamina is a huge limiting factor starting out. Make sure to work at the stables every day to get some free stat increases without having to face combat (and getting some silvers too as a plus). And when in doubt about your ability to win a combat, run away.

Every class starts with the skills they need to win the game. (To get all 500 puzzle points, even.) You don't need any other skills, there's always at least one solution with the ones you have.

That said, climbing can indeed be useful in some instances if you choose to take it, and would probably be my suggestion if you want to add any additional skills to a Fighter. You can only level it up if you assigned some points to it when you started. Skills at 0 never increase.

thanks for the quick advice uhm i need to start over then since i have climb of 0 and i found a bird nest near that healer lady i threw a rock at it but i cant climb it.

BTW, as an example of why you don't actually need Climbing skill, throwing rocks is one way to solve the dilemma relating to the tree. Though your Throwing skill will need to be high enough.

But yeah, Climbing can be useful occasionally. The biggest help IMO is being able to scale the Castle and/or Town walls if you don't make it back before sundown.

I can recommend buying a couple of Stamina potions from the healer as well. I never bothered when I played it for the first time when it was new, but they are cheap and quite useful sometimes.

Well, I am not sure about which game you are referencing when you are asking for tips, but I can give you a cheat for unlimited money in the fifth game. Just take all of the money in your inventory and drop it. But, as soon as you click drop, press "I" for inventory on your keyboard and do the same thing over and over again until he finally drops all of the money. You can double, and triple your money that way. Multiple times.
Also, upping your skill in climbing takes a lot of patience, but as long as your skill isn't at zero when starting the game, its doable. You just have to find a place to climb (tree), turn your speed up high, and keep clicking on it. Don't forget to rest when your stamina gets low.

Personally while I agree the remake of 2 is excellent. It certainly should be played.

I still recommend playing the original (and why I use it for my primary character transfering). Keep in mind this is for several reasons. As there are things you can collect in the remake that don't transfer over. Such as two spells. It's considerably more difficult to level up in in comparison (if you are going about for max skill leveling) to transfer stats.

On the other hand its made earning paladin mode slightly easier. Reducing the number of paladin points required by the end. On the other hand you lose paladin honor for doing the 'x-ray glasses' easter egg. Which is new. In the original game, the easter egg wouldn't make you lose any honor.

One more thing to think about is near the end there is a genie you can get, and you are allowed three wishes. In the original you had essentially three choices as far as the kind of wishes you could get. IIRC, it could be used to get stats in a skill you didn't have. So for example you could give yourself 'climbing'. If you didn't have climbing from QFG1.

In the remake though they add a bunch more things you can wish for, these include some bonus combat skills apparently.The problem is those skills don't transfer to the next game, and have little actual use for them by the time you get to that point in the game as well! Making those wishes rather pointless.

Also keep in mind some of the plot changes are fanfic, and modify certain aspects of the original canon storyline. But not by much. But it might make some things more confusing.

Thanx maybe im gonne try the remake but i noticed that weapon skill isnt hard to raise its 76 now but dot know if i start over since i have that overburden bug (i didnt know i was overbuderened and i saved) Oh wel try again but now i know what im doing. At kleast i hope

Does that essentially mean that if you don't put any points into, say, climbing when creating your character in QfG1, you're prevented from ever learning the skill until the end of the series (barring solutions like the aforementioned wish from a genie)?

Fortunately, climbing isn't essential in QfG1, and in QfG2 I learned levitation.

The genie in QfG2 can help you learn up to 2 skills, and you can also learn Climbing in 4 as a Fighter/Paladin. You also automatically learn magic as a Paladin in QfG3. You also get some points in the beginning of some games to distribute, so you can increase somr skills.
What I meant to say in my post was that you can practice any skill you want, but unless you have some points in it, it won't improve. The skills mostly affected by this are Climbing, Throwing and Parry, since you can use these all you like even with a skill of 0, but they'll never improve, and you'll most likely fail in their use.

You get a new batch of points to allocate at the start of each game, and these can be used to add a new skill. You won't be able to add more than one new skill per game this way since adding a single new skill will use most/all of your 'freebie' points, unlike in QFG1.

Is there plenty to be gained from getting the swimming skill in QFG 5?

Never played it before, but figured since my Paladin had pretty good stats from the previous game I spent the necessary points to get the new swimming skill. Hope it wasn't a waste.

Uhm, you shouldn't buy it as a new skill: you'll be given training in it (and thus gain it automatically) once you talk to the right NPC about it.
