For some reason the Winmm.dll (this is for the music right?) crashes the game.
I have to rename/delete it or I can't start the games.

More people who have this problem?

Some conflict with other program?
Windows XP by the chance?
I had this problem too after buying Quake 2. I was just going to ask what was wrong until I saw this post. I do find it odd that Windows XP can't run the game with the file, since GOG.com claimed that it would work just as well in Windows XP as it would with the higher-end Windows systems.

Any CDAudio in physical / virtual drive?
Yeah, I removed it. Didn't work.

Also checked my Avast virusscanner. Disabled it, but still not working.
I solved the problem.

Installing unoffical 3.24 patch en move the music folder to "baseq2"-folder did the trick :-)
