running q4 the graphics are not the same as the screen shots. i have the original on xp and its better, its running on 1920x1080 but its not a RES problem

Quake 4 has issues detecting video ram on moderation systems, you will have to create a file called autoexec.cfg as detailed here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Quake_4#Poor_image_quality_on_modern_systems

or use the Quake 4 Tweaker, but I have had issues getting that to run with the non steam versions even with a dvd copy.
