So basically it's back to the steam version?

Paczyk: The music is still there in the DosBox version because it "mounts" the disk images present in the build. Unfortunately we couldn't do the same for the Windows version ourselves.

CD Audio is lossless - that is the only difference.

mk47at: So there are three CD Images, right?
yes

DAlancole: It looks like a "wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean" kind of thing.

I fired up PowerISO, mounted the CUE and the music is all there. Basically, all that's really been done is an extra click or two added instead of everything being all-in-one.

Fairfox: Well... if anybody can try converting all the music to ogg and seeing if the (Windows?) game plays it, that'd be neat. Presumably the file names would be the same, but I've no idea how it works with the expansions; are they still included? If so, how were they organised in the first place (pre-music strip)? I'm not really keen on having to use an image mounter in general, as I don't need one for anything else.
See my post below yours. There are 3 CD images :)

Why? It does include the music, but only the dosbox versions uses it automatically. If you want to use the windows port, you have to either mount the images or rip the music and put it in the correct folders, which are id1/musc, rogue/musc and hipnotic/music respectively.

The Steam version doesn't include the music in any form!

Pardon me for missing information. I didn't need a lecture.
Haha, nice joke GOG. Now put the oggs back in you had your fun.

Or easy as that - no buy from me.

Edit:
And at least put a notice on the game page that people, who buy the game in the hope they get the music do not get fucked over. I have the original CD and hey there is the music on it, you can put right in your cd player.

yogsloth: Can we have the "for morons" version of how to do this?
1. Open up any disk image mounting program (I like PowerISO but Demon Tools will do)
2. Mount the CUE
3. Start up the game.
4. Enjoy the music.

That's about it. The Windows version should find the mounted CUE on its own.
the cue files are names gog files on my installation and alcohol won't even give them the time of day so hmm
EDIT: pfft nevermind. I did rename them but alcohol was being derpy for some reason. working now.

Sorry. I will try not to be helpful in the future.

Try renaming them to .iso then. I know CUE files are mountable, I mount them all the time in PowerISO so I ahve no idea what's going on on your end.

Nothing wrong with being helpful but it was a bit much. If I read it in the wrong tone I do apologise.

Sorry, I meant the "for actual, literal morons" version.

"Mount the CUE" isn't really quite the level of detailed instruction I was looking for. That would be a bit like me advising you to verjonky the splazzabeam in order to get something working, eh?

Ummm ok...well....

Do you have an image mounting program like PowerISO in the first place?

If you want pretty pictures you will need to wait a bit as it's a bit late here and I need to go to work in the morning :P

Just wanted to suggest Virtual CloneDrive to those who don't have any software for mounting disk images installed. It's freeware, doesn't contain spyware and really works like a charm.
