Berzerk2k2: So some days ago I was in the chat of the German Bethesda Twitch channel and mentioned this problem. Someone from their community team was so kind to forward this to the Bethesda sales team. I told them the whole story and also gave them the link for this thread so they where able to see the official announcement. A bit later I got a reply and they told me that nobody had any info about the Enhanced version being finalised for a GOG release. SmollestLight lied to us.
Looks like I'll be getting this game on Steam then.

How do I unsubscribe from this thread? You guys are insufferable. Bethesda is insufferable. GOG has done the right thing at every turn.

SmollestLight: As you may have noticed, Quake® Enhanced (updated and visually enhanced version of the original) is available on Steam since Aug 19th. We're in talks with the publisher and have their confirmation that the GOG version of the update is currently being finalised, and will be available on GOG.COM. We'll be sure to let you know when that happens.
GOG users who already own Quake will automatically receive the new enhanced version with a free download.
So are you ever going to come back and say something or what? At least delete this whole thread or something if it was all bullshit from the start instead of keeping this going.

With community GOG have - this release never happened.
bethesda launcher is shutting down so maybe now well get this and the doom port. steam is getting elder scrolls arena and daggerfall which bethesda previously only allowed on their launcher.
Quake on Steam just got update #3.

We already have Arena and Daggerfall on here though. Those games aren't listed in the store, but they come bundled with the purchase of any Bethesda game (including Oblivion that's currently "free" with Prime).
All old games first come to ZOOM\GOG(some else?) and later to Steam and later else stores (sometimes Steam skipped, by publisher decision, like some EA games, there is Origin and GOG but no steam releases - anyway Origin build based on GOG with or without changes).

GOG have TES1-2 long ago as bonus for Bethesda purchases. Almost next to when Bethesda come to GOG store (10 years ago?). Steam and Bethesda Launcher for bethesda old games builds based on GOG builds.

Sometimes Steam have leftovers files from ZOOM\GOG stores versions (non needed dll\image\etc files). Even own GOG DX wrapper are there in Steam sometimes.

Just came back to check on what the hold up is on the update promised on August 20, 2021 and wow this thread went toxic since then.
Lmao
Just a quick public service announcement: If you happened to get Quake 1 when it was given away via the now-discontinued Bethesda launcher 2 years ago, you can now migrate it over to Steam and get the "Enhanced" upgrade with it.

Not following through on things does tend to make people mad.
Don't really need a GOG version now, because you can run the remaster though the Quakespasm source port now.

hfm: Also, the "enhanced" version uses the Nightdive KEX engine, but I have to admit I've been replaying it from scratch (I own it over on Steam, not here..) and I honestly can't tell the difference aside from just the ease of running it on a modern system.

Kuroko: There are several major changes to the gameplay and maps in Enhanced edition and you would realise them instantly had you actually played Quake at all.
totally missed this reply but WHOA.. slow down there on the hyperbole. I bought Quake AT RELEASE and played A LOT in the 90's and early 2000s, I just hadn't played it in what.. 15-17 years? I wasn't a professional, just Threewave and Action Quake mostly toward the end. I suppose I didn't notice these nuances after that long just doing a complete SP run through this one time. It was a damn impressive port to KEX at just an SP run through. I suppose if you've been playing all along you'd definitely notice these things.
huh, I'm seeing Doom 64 being released here: https://www.gog.com/game/doom_64

Maybe there is hope after all. One bloody year later.

Let's see what people buying the game are saying regarding how the game works and if its truly DRM Free.
