Sarafan: I understand that the delay in publishing the remastered version of Quake on GOG generates emotions, but we have a general rule that insulting others, no matter whether it's an individual or a company, is not allowed. It's a violation of our CoC: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001814049-Forum-Code-of-Conduct?product=gog. Treat this as a kind warning and please refrain from doing so in the future. Thank you.
My bad. Should have known better before using the asterisked word.

AmethystViper: At the risk of being labeled as a "Bethesda fanboy", but people seem to be forgetting that the Quake remaster is on multiple platforms, and as of recent developments, it's also on no less than four PC digital distribution platforms despite not being available on GOG and the Epic Games Store as of yet [...]
Precisely because it is already in 4 PC stores (and several other platforms), there shouldn't be any problem in bringing it here, unless something specific from GoG (don't know about epic, don't use it) is preventing them to do it quickly (either technical or economical).

Also, the remaster is a project done with an engine wrote (AFAIK) by Nightdive and already released on other projects which are already on GoG. Is not like they took the original Quake source code and literally ported it to modern standards (As it was done with the Homeworld remaster, really interesting article if you are into that).

And is great and all that they are updating the product we don't own yet (as every other single decent developer do nowadays), but the bottom line remains in that we, on GoG, only have received a "coming soon" and after that radio silence.

Anyway, as I want to end this message in something cool, just play Alkaline and Alkaline Jam to kill time while we wait for, well, anything. Is probably going to be the highlight of the year regarding Quake for most of us here:

EDIT: I can't make work the url tags, so whatever:

A community member and id Software programmer has already confirmed the already present audio issue I mentioned earlier and I have recently sent an issue report over to Kaiser via twitter about some of the issues I encountered with the Steam version of the Quake remaster (which he also forwarded among the other team members at Nightdive Studios). I'm no game developer but I'm pretty sure working on, maintaining support, and at the moment, bugfixing a remaster of 25-year-old game that was ported to a new framework on various platforms, especially on wildly different consoles each with their own API and hardware specs, is not something that can instantly be done with a snap of a finger.
That does not sound fanboy-ish to me. Sounds perfectly reasonable actually.
So to make a long story short, is GOG eventually going to get the Quake Enhanced Update or not?

I highly doubt it.

Probably simultaneously with EGS: https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/quake
I'm sick of this endless waiting game.

Hai gais!!!

How's the waiting for Quake Enhanced Edition coming along? Getting hyped for the probably-not-too-far-off release yet? You know what they say: Absence makes the heart grow fonder. ;)

Anyhoo, just wanted to let you know that I 100%ed the Enhanced Edition earlier today. As for the new episodes: Dimension of the Past is pretty great (maybe not quite as good as Scourge of Armagon, but considerably better than the rather ho-hum Dissolution of Eternity). Dimension of the Machine, on the other hand, kind of sucks. The maps look amazing, that's for sure. But in terms of gameplay, about 70-80% of it really is a painfully boring slog to play through, with levels dragging on well past their welcome and spammy placement of boss-tier enemies. After you empty your entire nailgun magazine into a shambler for the tenth time in a row, it stops being exciting and starts getting annoying.

So, in that sense you're not missing all that much.

Why are you like this? Who hurt you?

Believe me, if you had just suffered through the shambler-spam in Dimension of the Machine, you'd be a bit salty too. ;P

With your flaming remarks towards people on GOG who still patiently waiting on the Quake remaster and your toxic projection trying to dissuade people from playing one of the major selling points of the Quake remaster as well as your contrarian attitude towards the remaster itself being ratio'd, I highly doubt that.

You want a medal or something? LOL

Enjoy the wait! :o)
Could somebody please ban this troll already? Absolutely nothing he's saying is constructive and there is no reason for anybody to ever behave this childishly.

I'll second this. "fronzeIneekburm" has literally been trolling everyone who says a positive word or disagrees with them. Thread ban is in order.
I think MachineGames is doing the right thing; keeping their mouths shut (mostly) so they can work to bring a DRM-free update/upgrade to this gem. There are plenty of games to play in the meantime, let alone a slew of re-work mods for Quake. Our patience will be rewarded.
